Exclamation SSL racked gear by "AudioJunkie" Real or Fraud?

Many of you have followed the previous posting, rants and ravings, it is now down to the true test:

On this July 4th, I have a long paper trail that promises me a full 100% refund of $10,000 (est.) U.S. by Sam G of "AudioJunkie."

On that date, either he will refund and show himself to the community as reputable or not.

Since this IS the concern of "High-End" user and SSL gear, I ask that this post remain, as updates will follow.

As some may also know, there have been many others of us who have had "dealings" with this guy and have had similair "less-than-reputable" experiences.

So, let this be a final verdict on "AudioiJunkie." I promise to give the absolute truth and results.

Please feel free to contact.

And anyone who owns the gear, please feel free to post your results!

Andrews

$$$

After almost a full year with $10,000 and another guy here in L.A. has even more owed and a few other Gearslutz here... I don't care if he delivers it by hand, as long as it is delivered!

This involves cyril Jones from Raindirk and a whle bigger backstory!

What a nightmare!

Why anyone would dick around with 5k stuff anyway..........

Personally I would take a long hard look at the X-Rack from SSL. Same kind of concept but sounds a lot better and available from reputable dealers.

With Total Recall too. thumbsup thumbsup

He's still making a few sales on Ebay; I saw a rack of 8 EQs go for about £1,200 a few weeks ago.

Agreed, you can get to London right now for less than $1000. Bring your paper trail, head right to the UK police directly from the airport then go visit the punk.

Not that it makes a difference, but a friend of mine here in town actually bought a rack of SSL 5000 "black" eqs from AudioJunkie and didn't have a problem. It only took him a couple of months to get his. I'm wondering why it's taken you a year to NOT get yours.

The guy is over his head.

He doesn't have the material. He did have some EQs, but that is it. I had ordered a rack of 8 510 comps along with a rack of 8 EQs, he ended up asking me 6 months later if I would buy the comps for him!

Now that's funny...well, not very.

Anyway, the reason he can't deliver now and the reason I asked for a refund instead is that I found out he is upside down, he doesn't do the work, Cyril from Raindirk does it and Sam owes HIM money too, so I was never going to see that gear.

There is another guy here in L.A. whom I've spoken with (who is also owed quite a bit) and if we don't get what is owed, we will be taking that flight and paying a visit, both legally and physically.

And the reason this post should stay is so we can save guys like a guy above from throwing away money.

Before I first ordered, I asked around and no one had anything on the guy, since then many users on this forum got hit by "AudioJunkie.: He really was/is someone trying to do a real business, he's just over his head and can't deliver...now I just want my money out.

The day after July 4th (fitting), action will be taken.

P.S. The link above...is that the same thing in a new disguise or just someonne trying the same business? I'll look into it.

Recycled Audio are different people. SSL repair shop.
AFAIK they have the goods. (got a lunchbox with 2 preamp from them), got the eqs from Prince Jamal (gearslut).

The quality of the Recycled Lunchbox leaves nothing to be desired. Pro quality housing and PSU.

Exclamation Thanks

Good to know. If only "AudioJunkie" were the same. Seems like he tried to take the same business model, but didn't have the goods and skill to back it.

I beleive another Gearslut user here "Delcramos" did eventually get his oney back, but it may have been through Pay Pal.

I'll keep everyone informed on how it goes down.

IF he does refund my money, then I'll at least give him that.

We shall see.

P.S. Anyone else in the same situation with Sam G aka "AundioJunkie," please contact me, we have a few people together who will be working to get our money back and we all stand a better chance working together and have a specific plan.

Feel free to post here or PM me.

Think about it.

Think about what it takes to get $10,000 in cash together. For your average citizen that's not an easy prospect, so unfortunately I'll be amazed if you get your money Tuesday. Especially since July 4th is a bank holiday in the US.

I'm glad you started this thread, because I have considered AudioJunkie auctions from time to time, even though I never bought. Thanks for the heads up and what a bummer you got stuck for five figures.

Sorry Armando, my typing is faster than my brain (which isn't difficult

Anyway, sorry to hear that YOu too have been ripped off by this guy!

I've been speaking on the phone with a guy here in L.A. who has actually met Sam G "AudioJunkie" in person. He is in for a bit more than I am and we will track this guy down and get our money back one way or the other.

There is a legitimate paper trail and the amount of money he owes makes his crimes more than a misdemeanor, even in the U.K., which I found out has even stronger laws on this ort of thing.

I'd sure like to avoid going there myself and may need to employ the help of some fellow Gearslutz, but even half the money spent is bettter than no return at all.

On my end, I DO have legal action prepared and ready to go.

Updates to follow.

And to ANYONE even considering buying from this guy, my "opinion" is that you should wait to see how this turns out, IF it hasn't alrady made you run away fast...I would had I had the benefit of this information earlier :(

I do not agree. This guy is a merchant. Not an average citizen. With any business there should be accountabillity. Good luck finding him anyway.

I completely agree there should be accountability. The guy should deliver the products or repay the money, no question.

But as a practical matter, $10,000 is sum that most people don't have laying around available to write checks. Small merchant or not. Plus, the $10,000 seems to be just the tip of the iceberg. It's highly unlikely that he put the money into a savings account for safekeeping, and there seems to be a lot of people in line trying get their money back.

I speak as someone who has been ripped off for a large sum in past dealings (much larger than the numbers being discussed here), so I know how hard it is to get money back that is owed. There are very few people that will make good on debts if they feel they can avoid it. I do hope this gets resolved properly and those that have been ripped off get their money returned to them.

All I know is that I wouldn't want a bunch of pissed off audio engineers hunting me down.

I bought a V672's rack from Audiojunkie 2 years ago on Ebay.

I got the rack (which was supposed to be already built) 15 weeks after payment !

He ever had "good reasons" for not sending it (his girl friend just left him, he got a back disease, etc.)

I had to threaten him by phone of coming to him and get the money or the rack.

His rack was poorly built: bad solders, bad screw's holes, bad screws, ...

One preamp was a V672, the other a V672/2, he did'nt even know the differences between them.

Only the PSU was correctly built.

The only negative feedback I left on Ebay was for him.

Sorry too learn he's still in business.

Just read this thread.... If you paid some one money and he hasnt delivered the goods and he owes you a refund, you can instruct a debt collection company to collect the money on your behalf. They charge you 5% of the debt and slap him with 20% on top of the money owed plus interest. Yes the big lads do go round, if he doesnt give your money back by then, they take him to county court and persue the case constantly until he pays up. One company you can get in touch with in the Uk on your behalf is FEDERAL MANAGEMENT LIMITED. Visit their website, have a read, contact them and see what they can do. If you need to trace him first, you can try an investigation company to find out where he eats shits and sleeps. If you need one of these, hit me back and I'll let u know. As long as you have evidence of payment by means of transfer or something you'll be ok.

The debt collectors like the company I have recommended are the type in the UK who persue parking fines and their quest to recover the money is relentless. My mate got a £40 fine that he never paid. He actually ended up paying £500. £460 were the fees for the debt collecting company. Dont waste your time flying here and confronting him, just pay a commision to some one to get it for you.

Good luck.
