So move to Honolulu!
Maybe they will do the interview over the computer or better yet fly you out there.
Go for it or find a way to!

Thanks for the support! Im wording my email response to him now.

Its just kinda weird since im not sure if the position is paid or not. I emailed my portfolio and said i could assist or intern. But that was when i swore i had a full-time advertising job lined up in Honolulu. I was hoping to assist/intern part-time at a top studio and go full-time at the first fiscal opportunity and dump advertising.

But alas, the adv job didnt pan out and i had to go back to my adv job in Cincy. I grew up in HNL...but its super expensive and hard to make a living out there.

And two things happened today. I researched the studio head further and he's got credits on 6 songs from Kanye's last two albums at THAT studio!!! And.....work here in Cincy at my adv job just totally sucks...compiling email campaign reports...UGGGGHH!

Quality of life cannot be measured in how much money you get from being a slave to the grind, but from the satisfaction you get from your work. Peace of mind is a tremendous aid to healthy living, as is a sense of accomplishment.

I'll take 1/2 the money to live where I want and do what I want to do... oh yeah, that's what I did.

Go to HNL. Get the gig. Enjoy your life.

^^ Man totally...I hope it works out that way.

While I'm not totally unhappy here, I often think about the things I COULD be doing sometimes and it drives me nutz. I spend WAY more time focusing on audio (here on GS for one) than I do advertising...I think I could be a huge contribution to a nice studio.

Plus its FCKING Hawaii!!

Lol and I got 808 posts now....Hawaii's area code

That studio has a beautiful view

I moved from Honolulu a few months ago after living there all my life to New York to do something not related to music. Solid change for me; Honolulu is way too slow paced for me and most young(er) people.

Island Sound yeah...formerly Avex? Wasn't it TK Disk before that? My friends went intern over dea...but smoke so much pakalolo they wuz like.....WUTEVAHZ...and quit LOL. Way back in da day.

Braddah I love NYC too...my plan was to go there to pursue advertising as a "safe" route and work my way into studios/the music scene.

Unfortunately, all my close friends and family that were living there are now ALL gone. I could move there on my own if the right job/position came along or if a buddy wanted to move up together...but any other reason makes me anxious.

Most ppl I know on the islands are happy with the pace, wouldn't have it any other way. Then again, most have never lived on the mainland at all. Some of my friends cant even go 2 days without surfing, even when its junk. Right now I live in a small town outside Cincy....talk about sloooooooow. It made HNL feel like NYC when I went back just a month ago

Whatchu doing NYC if u dont mind me asking?
