TRJanuary,
I originally found the photo (an up-close shot of some rackmounted gear, which was used for a 600px x 70px page banner) via a Google image search, although I now understand that its source was the studio you mentioned. Though we never directly claimed that the picture was our own studio, I can absolutely see why even putting this kind of a picture up could be misleading. I took down the photo immediately after you made me aware of it. This was an honest mistake on my part - it was not my intent to deceive or mislead anyone. Regardless, I shouldn't have been sourcing Google images in the first place.

I've since gone through our entire website and made sure that every image is sourced from stock images, or photos we took personally.

Again, my apologies.

Jason

stock images
(Chiming in as someone who's web site has been "hijacked" and even stolen in its entirety more times than I can remember, which is why I have rather over-done watermarks on most of my images and my single biggest expense in 2007 was legal fees).

Ambiguous "stock" images -- Guys with guitars, gals wearing headphones - It's all good.

Once you get into gear shots, that's just -- That's bad.

Some of the excuses I've heard... "My web designer did it." "It was on Google, so it's public." "Well, our place doesn't look like that but we want people to think we have a nice place."

It's theft, it's misleading, it's misrepresentation, it's copyright infringement, etc., etc., yada, yada and I'm glad you took it down already. Happens all the time, pi$$es me off like few things I can think of (whether it's my site being hijacked or not).

Just ranting. Nice day, y'all.

Wow. I can only imagine how frustrating this must be!

Just to be clear, when I say we use stock images - ambiguous guitar players, singers with mics, etc. is exactly what I mean

If Impersonating an officer wasn't a felony it would be funny to contact them to ask their relation to the deceased and that they need to go into their local pd for questioning.

Here's another.

Here's another "online mastering mill" that has committed photo theft:

VDE Online Mixing & Mastering

The photo of the control room belongs to EastWest. Vinny D. is in Miami but is spamming CL nationwide.

Funny site. He does not state if the $19.99 is per song or for the complete mastering. He also sends MP3s for mastering approvals. Oh well another bedroom/basement studio masquerading as a fully pro studio

There seem to be more and more of these sites cropping up all over. I guess they are all making money????

there are dozens of 'businesses' like this,
just google mastering studio, or online mastering
I can point you to few who are for sure better with SEO then mastering, as their dodgy website is quite high in google rankings....
what can you do ?
internet gives an opportunity for scammers - they hide behind slick website
it's a shame for other audio engineers,
today everyone is super duper producer, dj, mixing engineer, etc (young generation)
all you need to have is a laptop with software - and you have a studio aren't you ?

From the time you see a large format mixing console you know for sure mastering is not their sole income skill set.

Or maybe he or she just used a 3 D printer to make an exact copy of your desk <GRIN> Those things are getting so fancy you cannot tell the copy from the original.

WE HAVE A VERY POWERFUL NEW TOOL TO COMBAT THIS.

Google's new "image search". Its actually pretty amazing.

Enter photos from your website into Image Search.
It then finds every website in the world that is using the exact image or a very similar image. (so even if it is slightly edited or re-named, it can still find it)

Awesome.
OHHHH! A new revenue stream!

Regardless of their possible working relationship with Sage, the fact that they have images for three different mastering studios, various stock images from all over the web, no credit as to what studios they are, as well as information designed to mislead clients into thinking that they're the ones doing the mastering in these supposed facilities pictured, is shady at best.

here is a photo taken from his soundcloud profile,
please note this time studio 'moves' to London UK
from Florida/USA, I think chap is probably from some dusty town in Oklahoma
pretending to be Sage Audio on Facebook, and definitely using some other's peopel studio photo on soundcloud
here is a photo

by the way, he removed my questions off his FB profile, where I blatantly asked him questions, what a shame

Heard back from Steve at Sage. Sounds like the situation was resolved which resulted in this - https://www.facebook.com/icemusicmedia

Makes me wonder how many of those plug-ins are even legit...
