Yeah, and the average itunes user/listener doesn't know about it either. What a fantastic development for those of us who are involved in the profession of proper recording and reproduction of sound. Thanks Steve.

I don't think any of the sound altering options are enabled by default ( eq, sound enhancer or sound check). I could be wrong though...

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I would never burn anything using iTunes that would be for critical listening. Don't know that it matters, but I feel like somehow it's messing with the audio even when everything is off.

It is! Even with EQ off you can hear small differences. Strange thing. Critical listening is reserved for DAW from now on.

That's not a question. I did tell them and paid for the final revisions to appologise.

yeah unfortunately, iTunes sound enhancer(eq) is on by default.
I always have it turned off& if you update you need to go back & turn off again.
I agree with other posters, I wouldn't use iTunes for burning CD's

*a bit ot tip: recently I found out bitperfect is now in the app store for
$4.99
It replaces the iTunes playback sound engine and really improves the sound, immensely! If you listen to music via iTunes this is a real $4.99 bargain!
The difference in clarity is enormous.

What are we to make of the iTunes EQ anyway?
It's never made any sense to me.
