I sold a guitar to Russia, ebay/paypal

So I got the $1000 after three weeks with ebay money on hold policy.
The guitar tracking is just saying "Customs processing"

Iv recientley learned that guitars to russia with ebay/paypal is a very bad idea!

I transfered my money from paypal.
Can they come back and debt my bank?
Can I instruct my bank to refuse any and all paypal activity?

The buyer stopped answering all emails and I suspect he will try some scam like sending me back phone books with the exact shipping weight.

How can I cancel paypal and be done with them?

They can pretty much debt my bank even after I cancel the paypal account?

I do not trust paypal to do the correct thing, even after 15 years on the same paypal/ebay account they kept my money on hold for THREE WEEKS.

So how is the best way to "Divorce" my self from paypal so they cant reach in and take my $1000 back.

The way I see it, im a simple guy, the way I see it is if paypal put a hold on my $1000 they intend to try to get it back or rip me off, just saying I really dont trust paypal at all, like zero trust. these guys want all of my money!

So can they dip into my bank to rip me off after I cancel them?

I would have been p. sketched out from the get go -- were you compelled to sell to him? If a dude from Russia w/0 feedback wins an auction, does eBay give you an option to, like, pass on them? Feels like they should if they don't.

Huh? What did you do - call paypal and speak to someone in Bangladesh who has NO CLUE what they are talking about? How would the paypal customer service rep know whether or not it was ok to ship?

A few years ago I sold a line 6 bass pod to someone in Russia. USPS tracked it to Russia customs and then the package disappeared. One day the guy that bought it said he finally received it after customs held it for well over three months. Three months!! Thankfully he was very kind, understanding and patient and we made contact with each other often. But yea, it takes a while after customs receives it. It was delivered in less than a week to Russia from the US.

It seems from a recent experience that both the postal service and the customs department are a shambles and possibly corrupt in Russia.

I had stuff messed by post and customs.

Lesson learned and now I only buy NEW with WARRANTY!

Probably saved a ton this way instead of paying for service and maintenance on old stuff.

Sorry to the OP but in this part of the world (eastern europe onwards) and especially towards our neighbours Ukraine and Russia things are a bit uncertain so to speak.

You never know how these things turn out. Also piracy, corruption and immoral behaviour are actually praised :(

I remember 7-8 years ago young people used to brag on scamming... it was such a big thing that FBI actually opened a office in a nearby town
...and such a "great" thing to do that you would see 19 year old scammers with BMWs and all that stuff.

Don't mean to scare the OP but it's how it is.

One of the reasons I purchase (besides being a normal thing) with great sacrifices all of my SW is so I cannot become in any degree like those guys!!!

Lack of culture education and morals is so sickening and spreads like a disease and it makes me feel depressed :(

Send a message via AIM to Animus
One of the reasons I don't ship big items overseas. Too risky.

I hated having to dismantle a guitar to ship to russia. Sorry you're having this problem. PP truly does suck.

Why are you putting any blame on PP for this situation?
Sorry. I should have made my self clear. Shipping a guitar to russia sucks, in and of itself, as does PP.

I think he was just adding that paypal sucks butt (which it does). I RARELY use them and every time I do, it's a ****ing travesty.

I won't even use them just as a payment processor for my credit card. **** them so ****ing hard. I was beyond overjoyed when google came out with the google checkout a few years ago.

So that you can be safe, always ship UPS, Global USPS which is Fedex or Fedex with direct signature required and you will be covered.

No signature at anytime you cant get burned even in the states.
