So you have these points that other people bring up. Did they do this on this forum? If not, you're just trying to import drama from one social network to another.

If they did so on this forum, doesn't it make more sense to address these people directly? They're not going to click on a Skrillex thread in the first place.

Sure, your replies may get lost in the noise on page 135 of the general Skrillex thread - but hey - deal with it. Trying to prop 'm up in their own thread so they look more important does not make them so.

Nobody here at EMI/EMP gives a shit about the money or being a real DJ - we've got enough people to look down on already, DJs don't even register.

He's young, doing stuff with a laptop, it's pissing the old folks off. Good for him: if it didn't piss them off he'd be doing something wrong, and the more apoplexies he causes, the better.

even if he didn't look so different or like Corey Feldman people would still find reasons to hate on him. even if he looked boring as hell, people would still make fun of how boring he looked.

the main reason is because he's gotten super successful so quickly and he shows confidence. people interpret that as arrogance. the fact of the matter is that he's got talent and the fact that he blew up like he did in 2011 people just have a hard time accepting. and from that everyone starts to pick on him for the way he looks. it's like hating the genius nerd kid in highscool. remember however that the people who love him have no idea what filter resonance and modulation and frequency shifting and sub-bass is, but he gets people into it, which is cool.

anyway the weird thing and the dead giveaway that it's not right is that the people who make fun of him the worst don't even listen to bro/bass. that's like the equivalent of someone who doesn't listen to punk making fun of the Misfits. it must be the same exact reaction people had when Elvis first got famous and all the oldies criticized him for coming out with this new crazy shit and stealing black people's music which they didn't even like anyway. (but all the ladies did!)

if people didn't hate him so much, these threads wouldn't be so damn long. of course people would keep posting questions of how to sound like him, but it wouldn't be nearly as ridiculous as these drama threads just waiting to be locked.

There's always going to be haters. Please note that some of us strongly dislike the mainstream music industry, and not really dislike the artist or his or her music in particular.

Moved to the Moan Zone.

Simple answer? Jealousy. End of thread, people hate others who are successful in life.

Forget the man, what about the musical details ? The OP touched on them, but then got distracted with the personality.

It seems that based on the degree to which Skrillex is heralded, the quality and *uniqueness* of what he brings to the table musically should be easily identifiable, and therefore, his highly popular status fully and reasonably founded.

Oh and by the way guys here is the sad truth for those who love live acoustic music (myself included). I did live sound for a bit a couple years ago. Electronic music/DJ shows would fill the damn club up. Rock shows? Maybe a quarter of the crowd.

Rock shows I had to mic stuff up and do a bit of work on the mixer. Electro music? Mostly just make sure they weren't overloading the subs and crank them down whenever they cranked THEIR mixer up a little too loud (again to avoid overloading the PA).

.
Clubs really aren't the place for upcoming, groundbreaking & inspiring new rock bands (there aren't many *of* them). It seems that electronic music really has the edge in forging new ground in a freely experimental and uninhibited way.

But huge stadiums sure fill up with rock n roll dinosaurs (U2, The Stones, etc.) and their hordes of fans !

and what atmosphere is that? zombi wave arms in the air gatherings? the hate dont comes is not generated because of krilles..its henerated by his iq52 fan base that feels obliged to praise him in any internet thread and ask redundnt question to generate krillex threads..

actually a good question..are this m faktor people real or hired by internetz promotion agencys?

i ask because a girl i know just got hired by an internet promotion agency and her job was to ask questions abou a certain consumer electronics shop..but she was adviced to hide that in some questions or talk around so it wont get to obvious to just be spam.. she was one of 100 people doing the campaaign ..working 24/7 payed for the amount of postings made...sp literally millions of postings mentioning the name of the product in all relavant forums on a regular base...

i gues thats what brings your youtube watchings in the billion leaugue and than you get the music industry on your side aso..

so in the end we are maybe not dealing with morrons but professional internet agents here..

i dont hate him but i dont like him either because
- he is real ugly
- he acts real stupid
- he has male tits (bäh...)
- his music sounds shit to me
- he pretends doing something on stage
- people believe the shit he talks about producing
- the majors are behind him

its the same shit hype we had with that ed banger crap, but soon it will be over (but then the next shit will come up...)

Alright everyone I get it, I'm sorry for making the thread. For the last time I am not some sort of marketing agent that is ludicrous. The main reason why I asked this is because I run lighting and sound for a group that does electro hip hop and has a dj set in the middle. I am trying to produce my own style of music that could work in this environment. As of right now when Skrillex gets played the crowd usually goes nuts.

Yes I have googled how to design a "yoi bass" on a soft synth (haha I know it's funny). Along the way I noticed a ton of people hate on Skrillex and I wanted to get fellow producers opinions. This forum seems like it has level headed people who would speak matter of factly. Some of you have and I have learned that I need to basically stop giving a shit. Thank you for your help.

/thread over

This thread has taught me two things:
1) Holy $h1t he looks like Corey Feldman. I mean JUST LIKE Corey! Weird...
2) Holy $h1t I have the same haircut as him (it's just a shorter version)
2a) I might have to go get a haircut

I was a big fan of aggressive DnB and Jungle back in the day. What he's doing with dubstep kind of appeals to me. I like when people bend genres a bit. If I listen to something electronic I stray away from those that fit into a tight category. I guess I was blessed by not knowing what he looks like or how acts or what he doesn't do on stage, the music on it's own is alright.

You say "Skrillex" and I say "Squarepusher".

One makes innovative music, the other makes people nauseous.

I think this new lip-synching thing is really going to take off. There was this creepy old chick on the Superbowl demonstrating it last Sunday.

So Skrillex is one guy? I thought it was a group of guys dancing a la The Black Eyed Peas up in that Beavis and Butthead video... one dude had a fro and someone else screamed for the cops to be called or some sh*t.

Lightbulb

.

I don't hate anyone.

However, I don't see anything innovative or interesting here - sorry.

That said, everyone likes different stuff. That's what makes the world go 'round.

There's plenty of stuff I like that others don't. So what else is new?

If you don't like Skrillex, you don't have to listen.

As today was a hot sunny day, I went painting my mom's fence with my two sons.

They're 16 and 11 years old.

So our conversation turned to music, as it usually does... and I asked them, "What do you guys think of Skrillex"?

The 11 year old said, "It's good, but it all sounds the same".

The 16 year old added, "I think he wrote one good song and keeps recording it over and over again."

And they're his market.

Please. I don't think it's fair to cast Skrillex in with a total D-Bag like Pauly D.
He recently has a "DJing" event at a local dance bar here in my home city,
and he had his "handlers" out in the crowd picking out girls to be waiting for
him in his hotel room... I'll spare you all the rest of the sordid details of
required dress code, drugs, booze etc.

Skrillex can't possibly be that big a FrigTard!
