Slow People

Don't you hate when someone takes over a task your doing in an attempt to help, but only slows you down, and you don't want to saying anything to be rude so it drags on for long periods of time?

Slow people got, no reason. Slow people got, no reason. Slow people got, no reason or motivation or capacity to calculate and operate faster than their genetically limited mind allows. There is gridlock, and there is brainlock. ----- HAVE YOU NO MERCY !!??

Lol - here is my mini story. Interactive Audio class - I am in my Lab block (time were we actually DO the projects, rather then just learn). The assignment was to create an audio environment where we are in a graveyard, zombies all around, and we are the military team sent to wipe them out.

First part is to create a 30 second seamless loop for the background noise, I have a wind and rain audio file that I am cutting to 30 seconds. For some reason when I was cutting (in Logic) it was shifting over a tick or two every time it was cutting so I couldn't get the cut on the 0 line. I ask a lab instructor to come over and see if he could help.... well... basically he sat there holding my mouse and key board making weird noises and looking confused for 30 minutes. I would imply "Hey, no worries I'll figure something out" and the usual response was something like "This is really weird, I really wonder whats going one" *still holding the mouse* He was SOOOO slow on the mouse, didn't know any key commands for shit, and it was driving me nuts.

As if all that wasn't bad enough I had 28 more sounds to create, this was sound one of the project, and that was all after I spent 30 minutes getting the sounds together and getting the project all set up.

At the end I thanked him for his time, and ended up doing fine as far at time goes. I actually ended up done before everyone else in the class. It was just sooo annoying sitting there wishing he would let go of my mouse.

You gotta interrupt them and just be honest and tell them it was going faster before they tried to help. If you are polite about it they will understand and won't be offended.

Not always, I suppose... there might be one or two exceptions in the universe.

Man, you're my hero! I've been trying to compose a short but utterly meaningful phrase to grand insult all the morons in my life. I especially love the word "******-bag", which I find extremely fulfilling but couldn't find a way to put it in a sentence with something else. Now I have it and hope you wouldn't mind if I use it extensively. So let's all try it out loud: STUPID PEOPLE SHOULDN'T BREED!

By the way very interesting thing just happened. The system automatically censored out the word "d-o-u-$-h-e bag" in my previous post but let alone words like "morons". What if I was sharing my thoughts about getting much warmer sound out of a compressor or EQ just by putting them under a freshly warmed d-o-u-$-h-e bag I purchased at the local drug store. I couldn't get a warmer sound out of a compressor or EQ by calling them morons so...Mods, guys, put your house in order. Read some literature on the language matter if you must. Basic education could be your friend.

I'm about as slow as it gets! I have to say I have done this before. IE someone asks for some help..you think you can help but dont quite remember how it was done..so you end up looking at the screen trying different things until it's done. the point is it's hard to say no especially when you are a 'lab instructor' I would ask questions about that more so then why he didn't back off..why didn't he know!

lol, I have come to accept that some of the lab instructors are genius, and others are there simply because they know someone and needed a job.

He is a good guy, he just likes to talk and keep me from my work to much. He did it again at my last lab.

You're clearly a super nice dude J but stuff that. you're paying for an education. If you're instructers are not capable you should make it known. That being said if its just a small point etc then sure no biggie and you learn how to cope with it.

There is usually 3-4 of them in each lab, so if one doesn't know it gets figured out eventually. If all else fails I go with my favorite saying.... Google it.

There are places that this school needs to improve, and lab instructors are one of them, but the teachers are on point 90% of the time, so usually the lab instructors are only there to tell you how to use the equipment or explain the lessons. As long as the lab guys aren't d--ks then I usually am cool with them, even if they know less then I do.

I was driving the other day and I was sad when I saw this sign:

But I was happy to see that someone is doing something about it;
they're being educated and given jobs.
