... and their website 'support' is an utter and complete joke. I had to use an old version of Firefox 32 bit v. 3.6 to get their lame web client to work. This after many crashes of my system!!! | |

| i do not understand this ilok hatred. I have been using Ilok since it came out and haven't had a single issue. Not once. Is it bad because you can't steal whatever you want like people used to do??

| Lives for gear | That's not it at all, at least not from my side. I have no problem with the dongle concept, either in principle or in practice. Take Steinberg eliscencer for example... theres a dongle system that works flawlessly!

So don't use it. Didn't you research at all prior to your purchase?

| Lives for gear | Unfortunately, this is often not an option if you want to use pro-audio software and plugins. Alas, we must grin and bear it. The person who coined the term 'plug-and-pray' must have just got done trying to upgrade from ilok1 to ilok2!!

You know. If you pay for it...No problem. What a concept.

| Lives for gear | Not sure who this was directed to... but actually, there is a problem. The problem comes when you pay for it and it's ilok protected. Why? Because their support is terrible and relies on legacy 32-bit editions of Firefox from yesteryear in order to function. ... so I'd say that's a pretty obvious problem, at least for some of us (a quick search will reveal just how many have been affected). |

Fortunately I've been able to avoid "it"completely The only third party plugs I use are "Dont Crack" V.I,P bundle[22 excellent plugs-$299-NoN iLok]] cakewalk only has iLok for the "softube" deal,so I passed. I attempted to authorise "cubase LE" early[very] on,and was unable to get e-licenser to work AT ALL, which has consequently made me iLok phobic,to the MAX. I would like to see what the waves/UAD "hype" is all about, but working ONLY in 64bit,has stopped that $thankfully$,yes Im aware that is changing ![]() Half the time Im on laptop so I'm gratefull not to lose the USB ports too. I despise cracks, pirate anything,so it aint that[Hell I BOUGHT X1 studio, and then BOUGHT producer, both boxed ]Fortunately the included plugs/DC,is enough to keep me going for a looong time[I can hear a "Boston" song] |

I'm only replying to this in case someone at iLok considers this thread. iLok is awesome. Never had a problem. I use 3 computers (2 PCs, 1 Mac). I can Install the software on all machines, including the one at work. I just carry my iLok with me. So convenient. I will admit that I'm using iLok 1 still. But if I buy software requiring 2.0, I'll buy a new iLok. I DO get angry when companies create a new product just to make the old obsolete, and force us to buy the new one. But iLok has been a great innovation. If ports are a problem, get one of those 7-way splitters. An iLok doesn't need hi-speed access in the usb buss.
