Physics, Anyone?

Do they even teach physics in high school any more? I took high-school physics and it SURE helps me understand the principles behind audio and acoustics. Despite having a crusty, curmudgeonly teacher I learned a lot about wave theory and propagation, the very basis of audio.

What part of the world are you in?

Most countires/goverments hace a curriculum, which includes physics.

My son got a very good education in physics in high school. He's now double majoring in math and physics with full merit scholarship at a top-10 university for those subjects. One of his high school teachers had his PhD, had done research, and had taught in community colleges. However, I live in a well-funded school district that is very serious about placing kids in top university programs.

Admittedly, there were limits to his high school education, given that calculus is so watered down at that level. However, his math and physics teachers were very up-front that the curriculum was incomplete, and gave solid advice about how he could make up for it's shortcomings on his own. In the end, it was his own motivation and sense of self-worth that propelled him. But that's always the case, now, isn't it?

Physics? Most grade schools don't even have a home economics course anymore. We have an entire generation who know nothing about taking care of their home unless their parents taught them. My sister-in-law is a terrible housekeeper and can't make a meal for her kids.

I'm a competent cook and I have never taken a course in cooking. The housekeeping part is another story. I try to clean house at least once per year whether it needs it or not (emphasis on the words try to).

some basics of physics and psychoacoustics can really be helpful for audio engineering. at least it would avoid discussions with ignorant statements as posted in my sig

That is the truth, my girl of 7 years now can't cook **** all, and has no intentions on learning. Sad Guy right here.

Teach her! She'll love the independence. My older kids taught my youngest son how to use the gas stove when he was 6 because they were tired of him asking them to cook eggs for him.
