FED UP with FeDEX...... They SUCK..

I have to vent so please allow me this one

I've had exactly 3 experiences with FeDEX in the last 2 weeks and everyone has been miserable.

1. Package delivered to my house that isn't mine.
Similar address, both have Pine in the street name but get this, SIGNATURE REQUIRED! Nobody signed for it. Left on my porch. I recognized the name as someone who owns a business in my one horse town. Called FedEX to come and pick up and re-deliver, got one moron after another. Gave up... Called the person's phone on the label and she came and got it. FedEX shows up 2 days later looking for the package.
Duhhh....

2. FeDEX at my door for a pickup. Huh? I didn't schedule anything with you guys. Nasty driver starts asking me if my wife, girlfriend etc did? Really? Nope, we don't use you guys. Get out of here moron.....

3. Ordered a gift for my mom. Shipped FedEX, no sig required because it's perishable (chocolate covered strawberries). She is home, I am actually on the phone with her (coincidence) and check the delivery time and it's 5 minutes ago!! No bell ring (it works), no package on the porch etc. NEVER DELIVERED!!
Call FedEX immediately and reach one moron after another. They end up calling my 86 yo mom asking for me!!
Incredible.
Send email to company and within 5 minutes, on the Friday before Xmas (yesterday) they offer to replace the package no charge.
Now THAT"S service..
Sharri's Berries if you ever need something nice for someone. Look them up on the net.

I'm old enough to remember when FedEX was the gold standard. WTF happened?

I know all these companies have their warts, but this is really idiotic at this point.
Has it gotten this bad?

I send quite a few packages, all UPS and rarely have a problem. Yea I know there are horror stories with UPS as well, but this FedEX thing has me intrigued.
Are they going down the crapper?

what i hate is when thry leave it next to your door ring the door bell and before you even open the door their already half way up the block. like they dont even make sure you are home unless its sig required.

Lots of people that hate their, but want the paycheck.

FedEx isn't the only industry suffering from this, work ethic has become almost totally corrupted from the "gold standard" days, it's all "Money for nuthin', chicks for free" these days...

P.S. Between 2004 and 2007 I bought a TON of gear on eBay, but then between the nightmare of FedEx/UPS mishandling and damages, and sleezy sellers, I gave up, and closed my PayPunk/SleezeBay accounts in 2010 when they got too controlling and greedy, besides even the buyers on eBay have become confidence tricksters!

IMHO it's WAY more cost/time efficient to just buy new (locally) than try to save 20-50% on used gear these days, and get screwed at every turn - Besides, once the politeers get around to passing laws to collect taxes for online sales, all those back taxes, penalties for non-reporting *plus* interest assessed (the national database for tracking started this year) is gonna be a living hell for many not expecting THAT bill!

I don't really like Fed-Ex either.

I'm sure most everyone has seen this by now:

FedEx Driver Throws Flat Screen | Socialnomics

Having said that the last package that I got via Fed-Ex, the driver rang the bell and then waited around and even offered to carry the box inside when my mom answered the door because it was heavy - this was after this video came out though

Merry Christmas everyone!

I've always had better results with FedEx than with UPS, which isn't saying much. I'd imagine you have to be in pretty good shape to be a driver for either company, though, as I've never seen any one sprint away from a door as fast as those guys do after ringing the bell. Having said that...

Are you sure that they weren't there to try to pick up the misdelivered package? Not that that would make anything better...

We ship most of of EBAY store packages by USPS Priority and so far it has worked well. A couple of years back I was doing so much FEDEXing that I became a FEDEX shipper. Nothing FEDEX has ever taken from here has been damaged and except for one package that got lost in Canadian customs (not their fault) everything got delivered when they said they would deliver it. On the other side UPS has managed to mangle most things we have had sent though them and the cost for shipping is exorbitant compared to the USPS. Different strokes for different folks...

It depends on where you are... in some places FedEx is better than UPS, in other places UPS is better than FedEx. FedEx ground is pretty much a nightmare up and down... but on "air" shipments they're really about the same -- it all comes down to the quality of management at your local hub as to which one will be best for your locale.

If your local hub's manager is all about "overtime cost savings" then you'll have drivers that ring and run... drivers that drop a package next door and hope for the best... or if the manager is about delivering a "quality product" then you'll have drivers that actually do their job properly and get the package to you.

The people in the trucks are happy to do as they're told [for the most part] as they're pretty well paid and have lots of benefits [UPS drivers being "Teamsters" - but FedEx drivers get comparable pay and benefits so they will indeed stay with the company] -- it really all depends on the manager's priorities [which are generally to be promoted to the next higher position... it just depends on the route they take to get there].

Peace

I got something from them a couple weeks ago and the mailman actually brought it. I had been watching the box travel on the FedEx site with one of their tracking numbers, and when it got close I had:

Quote:
Arrived at local Post Office - Allow one to two additional days for delivery

and

Package delivered by U.S. Postal Service to addressee
Are they working together now or something?

Take Care
