Are Waves afraid of making money

I dislike Waves

They have always been sneaky and backhanding in their business and have always spoken in very cynical hyperbole...

But I really wanted to try this Kramer tape plugin.

So I want to share with you my customer journey.

Googled it -> Found a page with some info about how to buy, no link to demo -> Googled "Waves Demo" -> Found a page with all kinds of crap on it, tonnes of links to stuff to download.. oh wait the Kramer Tape is only TDM? -> give up -> 1 month later I swear there must be a Native version, I've seen it in mags, go back to that site -> Find a Kramer Bundle with the word tape in it, aha! here's the demo I wanted -> click link, takes me to page asking to log into iLok, do this... can't sync.. try again, can't sync... ok.. try Firefox..can't sync...INTERNET EXPLORER?! oh it worked! -> sweet, so sync with my iLok... computer does that weird spazzy thing when the iLok is working.. ok done -> what now? where's my link to the software I just signed up for?.......... Goto Waves site again -> something called WOI.. guess I'll download that.. oh it's some Waves software I don't want on my PC, but I'll check it out -> sits on "please wait while downloading the installer engine -> ............... stays on window forever.

Does not buy. Can't even see plug-in, let alone hear.

Funny that because when I buy my plugins from Voxengo, PSP etc, I have them within minutes, play with them for a day, and then send em some money usually.

I'd like to think Waves will come here, put me to rights, and sort me out with a demo afterall.

But I doubt it.

And by the time that happens, my demo licence will have run out.

Maybe I'll go buy a UAD...

I demo'd the waves API a while ago, even got them to give me an extended trial. Just tell them you're interested, explain what happened and ask them to give you a longer trial in order to properly judge them.

Don't bitch at Waves because something is borked with your CPU. I have no problem demoing their plugins.

CPU runs fine here, running XP3 pro with audio sessions with plugins and analogue IO running smooth all day long.

I actually tried it a few more times later, and eventually it worked. I downloaded the plug-ins and they were nice, although not for me, I have recommended them to a friend, but I also recommended he gives it an hour to install..

The guy has a legitimate issue and wasn't disrespectful to Waves, and certainly not to you. Why be a jerk to him in response?

never had a problem with waves...in fact...i find there store to be really efficient and addictive...kind of instant ...and i dont think they are ''sneaky, backhanding and cynical disrespectfull'' particularly either.

They took a huge hit with cracked software all through the 90's and had to toughen up...but the prices are much more affordable...
they may not be perfect...but the range of products is pretty close IMHO.

It's hard to even bother reading further than this. You dislike the company and you accuse them of being "sneaky and backhanding in their business and have always spoken in very cynical hyperbole".....yet you really want to try one of their plugins?

Isn't typing words inherently just violence against language?

We’re sorry you had difficulties demoing the Kramer Master Tape, but as others have pointed out, this is most likely due to issues with your personal system. In the future, feel free to call customer service at 1-865-909-9200 ext. 2 or contact us on Facebook or Twitter to receive help. Although we try to check in on Gearslutz to see if anybody is having issues, you will reach us much faster if you contact us directly.

I've never had any problems running waves demo, but I must say their "biggest sale of the year", really sucked. I stayed up til 2 am for nothing. $399 for gold is good but I already have gold, $1250 for diamond is good, but again, already have gold. I almost bought the l316 for $249 which is a good price, but I'm glad didn't. Other than that there was vocal ryder, c6, power pack, silver and all the single signature series plugs. None which I would buy even they were selling them considerably cheaper. I was expecting deals on upgrades, ssl, jjp, api. if this is the best they can do on their best sale of the year, it doesn't look like ill be spending on waves plugins for a while. So, ya I think waves is afraid of making money. Oh, and also check out all the deals they have at regular price. No thanks waves.
