I've heard a rumor that Sony Studios UK is closing

Rumor has it that Sony Studios here in London is closing, known as Whitfield Studios. ORIGINALLY known as CBS Studios.

This is a shame, as I spent my early-mid twenties pushing chairs around there in the dark stoned out of my mind, while also helping make dreadful demos with the assistants, assaulting the piano, and generally having a laugh in the lift, not to mention seeing how many pencils we could get to fly off the vr at once.

Those were the days.

Many cool people recorded there at some point, and quite a few films have been scored there.

It has had a strangely checkered history. The Germanos got involved 10 or so years ago for its last great revamp when it became the Hit Factory for a number of years. When this happened my cousin helped rebuild it before he became a techie there (that reminds me - must tell him to check out the new geekslut area!)

Down goes another orchestral room, anyway.

I wonder where they're going to put the Sony Classics guys who had all their mastering/editing stuff in there...

The other rumor is that a new orchestral room may be opening up in London in the building of the City Hall on the Thames, financed in part I think by Pete Waterman....

Wierd!

Can anyone add anything to these rumors? (These are A+ rumors by the way, so I think they have a high chance of being true)
