...no, not a dealer...definately not a shill...just a seasoned pro recorder (with some spare time) enthusiastic about products that I feel offer exceptional value to the home studio crew...if I defend my GAP PRE-73, it's because it holds it's own next to my vintage Neve mic pre...same goes for my JJ Audio modded V67G...I'm sorry if my enthusiasm gets a bit over the top at times, but frankly I've gotten plenty of "thank you" PMs from people who acted on my recommendations, so I'm pretty sure there's some positive to come of it...

...maybe I should post that in my sig...

Kk, thanks for clearing that up. I've been wondering about that for a while.

Also it does not seem so unreasonable to keep bumping this thread when you consider that the "mics formerly known as Joel's"
are just now finally being fixed.

...when those posting have something constructive or relevant to add to the discussion, I wholeheartedly agree...that is not what I am referring to when I speak of posters with an "agenda"...they know who they are...

Ah, the Agenda Police.... time to round up the usual suspects for a line-up....

I have a statistic to throw into the bonfire, kind of startling or maybe not...

The mp3 samples that I posted with my glowing review of the modded V57M's have an average of 40 views each, the jazz drummer and the piano theme and those things...

The mp3 of the seashell noise-- which was first a private affair betwixt the relevant parties, and then became public...

HAS EIGHTY NINE VIEWS.

To recap: more than twice as many people have heard the noise of the failing mics as heard the ones when they were brandly-newly modded and working well.

I find that... revealing, say. The mp3's of the CAD E100S (from that review) have hundreds of views. Someone at CAD obviously made it their business to get exposure for them... anyone need help connecting these dots, PM me...

Cool. Then you could flip the phase on it, and get rid of all the seashell-sounding problems that afflict unsuspecting mics on this planet - rendering ultra-cool sweetness for end users..... thumbsup

Seriously!! this thread and the ADK Vienna/ Hamburg thread should be must-reads for anyone in a first-year business course. How NOT to deal with customers; how NOT to handle a webpresence.
Let me spell it out for you guys:
1. Express empathy for your customer's situation.
2. Take responsibilty for correcting said problem.
3. Act swiftly to remedy the situation, going beyond what is merely necessary.
If you wish to stay in business for a long time, you will concentrate on gaining customers, not sales.

edit: by the way, I miss Joel Patterson

I'm doing my best not to post my current experience with JJ Audio. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt for many months. Their customer support leaves a lot to be desired. They finally rectified the problem I had with them, but it took many months of unanswered emails and threats.

I originally posted in this thread about my experience and deleted it after they came through (refunded my money). But with yet another person having problems with them, I suppose I need not be silent as other people need to know what they could potentially be getting into if doing business with JJ.

You're not the only one, Brian. I recommened JJ to a friend and he's had the exact same experience that I had with them. Lack of communication for weeks and months, refusing to refund money in a timely fasion despite their site saying "2weeks" for refunds, being told I won't get a refund until the mic I returned gets sold, taking 6 months to get a mic when promised it would be weeks, etc. I also had the ocean swishing sound with one of the mics I got from them.

Sorry Jim, but It has to be said. This is beyond a couple of bad customer experiences and I certainly wouldn't recommend doing business with you guys as you operate currently.

To their credit, the mic I kept, which was just a mod rather than a whole mic, sounds great.

I bought a fully modded "DUTCH" in the classifieds (and it is amazing) but that was after multiple attempts to contact JJ via their website, phone, responses to threads on GS and PMs to Langston here... NONE of which were ever responded to! Normally that would have scared me away but I really wanted the mic and G.A.S got a hold of me... hope nothing ever goes wrong.
