| So sad. My girlfriend and I have been listening to the Big Star box set non-stop for last few months. Hard to believe he sang "The Letter" at 16. RIP Alex. |

| I didn't know Alex had passed away until I saw this thread. I got turned onto Big Star in the early nineties after hearing constant references from bands like the Replacements, R.E.M. and the Posies...truly memorable stuff, way ahead of their time. I saw the reconstituted Big Star (with Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow of the Posies) play sometime in the mid nineties in Seattle. It was a great show. Rest in Peace, Alex - you'll be missed.
