Are saying you have to pay a business property tax every year on everything in the studio? Separate from the real property tax?

Let me know when the next Tea Party is going on in Georgia.

Next they'll tax the clothes you're wearing to work and the food you bring in.

Have your accountant prepare and maintain a Fixes Asset Register for you. It should take you an afternoon of work to hand of to your accountant.

You do have a accountant...right?

Gee, thanks for running our National Debt through the roof, then complain about taxes!! Your generation is nothing but selfish con artists!!

Learn to pay your tab, not dine and ditch then give your nephews address to the cops!!!

My generation? Selfish con artists? WTF?

I pay my taxes. I served my country. I don't expect anything in return except to be left alone by my Government.

I don't collect welfare, unemployment, Medicare or Medicaid or any other Government benefits and never have. I paid my own ticket through school.

Go piss up up a rope.

He's obligated for a State tax not a Federal tax...and I'm not upset. Just surprised that the population allows it. And more surprised at being attacked in a professional forum.

Not unique to GA. I had to do it in L.A. too. The guidelines said everything down to windex, paper clips, and toilet paper had to be listed. No joke - I asked specifically about the toilet paper. This was separate from business license, business income, state, and federal.

And a mod note: remember if the political stuff gets too raucous, the thread will end up locked and posts will disappear, so let's stay on topic and not argue politics. Tax liability is a part of running a business, and this is relevant info that budding studio owners should know about.

Here in the US taxes are going to go thru the roof. Anyone that thinks taxes are bad now (and they are) is in for a rude decade ahead.

The US has 25% of the workforce unemplemployed. Govt debt at $14 trillion.

And $176 trillion in unfunded liabilities. Yeh that's right $176,000,000,000,000.

By 2015 the govt will be taxing farts.

Enjoy the fall of the empire... its gonna suck.

Anyone up for starting a studio in international waters? Maybe event the bottom of the Atlantic? We could call it Rapture Recording (BioShock reference).

People would go there just to say they recorded an album half a mile under water.

Property tax is killing me! Have you ever heard of a bad dog on a farm that tasted blood by killing the farmers chickens. Thats like the local county taxes here in Florida. I used to pay once every year then think ok I am good for awhile. But no about a week or two after paying all the taxes they send me a letter saying. "We heard you've made some improvements". tells us more about you and your business?" Blood sucking looting leeches !!
Aaaah!! Ok I am better now.
