| I guess some people are destined to be called, for the rest of their lives, the word that cost them the spelling bee. On a more serious note, a few years back, I was surrounded by police cars while eating a 7-11 taquito parked on a residential street after a session in the early am. Lights were immediately shining in my face, and I couldn't see what was happening. I was told to lie down, face-first on the ground. "Get out of the car. Move slowly. Let me see your hands!" As soon as I got out, I had my hands behind my head. The spotlights shining in my face hid the officers from me, but painted a warped mirror-house version of what was happening on the road. Looking down, I saw my own arms, shaped like smeared commas, joining at a ball which was my head. I could also see the shapes of human figures, italicized by the angle of the spotlight, hands filled with more shadow meaningfully directed towards me. I realized that I had at least 4 guns pointed right at my head, and lied down, watching my own shadow grow on the ground until it filled my vision. I was handcuffed and put in the back of a cruiser. Over the next 20 minutes, random cops came into the car, attempting to gain a confession. "So, what were you doing here?" "Well, I was sitting in my car, eating a taquito. Then you pulled up, arrested me, and put me in the back of this car." "Yeah, right! You think I'm buying that? Come on, it'll go easier on you if you just admit it now." "Admit what?" "OK man, if you want to go down, I sure as hell ain't stopping you." Meanwhile, I had NO IDEA WHAT THE F WAS GOING ON. Then the cops left me inside the car for another 1/2 hour, and all I could do was watch them mill around outside while I was cuffed in the back seat. A chopper was even circling overhead. Then things became strange. The cops were no longer menacing; they were coming in to clap me on the back, saying things like, "wow buddy...how ya doing? Everything's ok, right?", and a few minutes later, "Hey, you understand ... we're just doing our job, you know," all accompanied by smiles...but fearful smiles. As if, suddenly, I was the mogul who could shift the flow of donuts and coffee to a faraway city on a whim. I heard "We'll have you outa here in 5 minutes." several times, over a much longer duration than 5 minutes. I was starting to wonder if my family tree included the guy who invented donuts, or maybe the guy who perfected them, and why they knew instead of me. Finally, I was released. Only then did I see that there were at least 10 cruisers, several pinning my car in, and several more in a rough circle around where I had been forced to lie on the ground. I saw that the street had been coned off at each end. And then I learned that I had almost been arrested for STEALING MY OWN CAR. Yes, the brave men and women of law enforcement had me exit MY OWN VEHICLE at gunpoint for fear that I might STEAL IT. It's amazing what a lojack triggered in the car parked in front of you can do. Apparently, one of the effects is decimating the intelligence of any law official in the immediate area. So my opinion of Johnny Law is this: Those who serve as the official intermediaries between ourselves and harm have their thumbs so far up their asses that biting down is a sure way to end up with 4 fingers. Tie this thought to gun control however you see fit. And **** anything that attempts to mimic "food" coming out of a 7-11, even if some versions are distinctly better than others (f the montery jack chicken taquito ... cream cheese/ jalapeno is tolerable...but they both SUCK).

Yeah, the idea of getting a gun wouldn't have even crossed my mind if I had been able to press charges or really do anything. You get a 150$ ticket for driving down a do-not-enter - apparently threatening someone carries no penalty.
