Thread Starter | American Idol 2010 Well do you see any real talent this year ? its early.... I'm going out on a limb......Casey James wins it all and is a big hit someday. This guy can sing and play guitar pretty well to. He will only get better.

| Like just about every year: There's a few ringers, a lot of losers and every once and a while - a few surprises down the line. The judges are a little too forgiving this week, me thinks. |

| Lives for gear | Who fraking cares. It's shit like that show which exemplifies how sucky the industry is. I can gladly say I have never watched a season of American Idle, maybe only catching a total of 15 minutes through out all its seasons. That's all it took..

| At least they actually have to sing and are not AutoTuned to death like 80% of the "artists" that I hear these days. Only two or three of the guys have a remote chance. There are about five girls that have some potential. I think that Cowell has been was pretty hard on the guys tonight. |

| Last night was about as boring as it can get, except for the two guys at the end. What are these young guys thinking? 90% sounded like their grandfathers picked the songs for them. My wife really enjoys AI and it's good couch time for us, but they better get it going pretty quickly or I'm out this season. |

| I have a real problem with singers that have a real fast vibrato with no signs of being able to control it. To me a mark of a great vocalist (among other things) is their vibrato speed and control. Folks like this are IMO only good at rock type music, i.e. chris daughtry, eddie vetter, etc. Casey James is in this catagory - good and marketable but not the best. This Andrew Garcia is very good and probably getting contacts already. |

| I try to watch American Idol, I *really* *try*. But the lame, pathetic, predictable canned soul usually makes me wince. I mean stop trying to sing like Al Green. When low talent 'vocalists' do that, it's just plain *embarrassing*. |

| I am watching for that Casey James dude to take it all. I'm not worried about his vibrato. They have him singing stuff that's not appropriate for his voice and style. We will see.

The girls I'm still undecided, there is at least 4 hot ones. Tonight is great so far except for 3 girls, one sung Smile, and the girl that played piano and sung the C.King song. And Scott that sung fall to pieces.

| This is absolutely the worst year I've seen. What are these young people thinking by singing these old, slow tired songs? Last night I was about to snooze. Carol King? Fleetwood Mac? It's so bad last night that I was hoping for even Brittany Spears or something in this freaking century. Their song choices are pathetic. Right now Chrystal Bowersox is blowing everybody away. |

| If it was a real singing contest, there would be 19 Susan Boyles there. Just that the fact that every chick is some what cute and thin, proves that its all complete BS. what, fat girls can't sing?? |

I do think there are some really awesome singers on the show. Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, Didi Benami, Lee Dewyse (singing Donnie Darko , Paige Myles, Siobhan Magnus, and Michael Lynch stand out. I think Michael Lynch takes it.

I'm a metalhead FWIW. By image I don't mean the skanky, slutty crap you see on American Idol, but more like Hayley Williams from Paramore or Sierra Kusterbeck from VersaEmerge. Gorgeous girls who have the vocal chops behind them, but they are also easy on the eye without reeking of "Guys, come and **** me" look like most of the American Idol/average female pop star type go for. If you can go for a good looking girl who can sing their ass off, surely you'd take that over the average looker who can sing equally as well?

| Lee Dewyze was actually in the studio doing a film project back in early fall-ish. He is a really nice guy, and he can sing! His dad is actually my mom's mailman. This year most of the singers have been sounding awful so I'm curious to know if it is nerves, bad monitoring or a combo.
