Well ... the thing is... a great engineer can turn out great mixes with anything... you'd be surprised how "not perfect" a lot of great elements in amazing mixes sound once solo'ed... A mix is a combination of a lot of elements. A great mixer can massage these elements to the point they sound amazing TOGETHER. That is the key btw. TOGETHER.

I don't want to offend, but I think he was referring to the atrocious, barely intelligible english.

As a general rule, when one calls out one's betters, one should ensure they do so with a certain degree of eloquence, or at least reasonable grammar.

Yes, that was not a pleasant read and frankly don't really care about this Joe guy.

Is the top technician or producer going to make the exact SAME sounding album on the crap/gear as he would on the good/gear, NO off course not.
Is he able to get the band together and shaped for recording, and be able to produce a good sounding recording YES he would be able to do that.
