Classifieds moaning

While I really like the classified section of gs, there are some things that kill me:

1 The Feeler - Well I'm just putting this out there in hopes that many of you will beg me to sell it, but I don't want to commit to anything, like having to actually sell it - on a FOR SALE board.

2 Stock photos - seems suspicious, and even if legit, if I'm looking to buy your gadget, then I know what one looks like. I want to see what the one for sale looks like.

3 Originally paid X when new - Wow what a list price loving philanthropic benefactor to the gear pimps you must be. Because it's always available for much less.

4 Will you reconsider shipping to ? - (wherever the ad just said NO SHIPPING TO ----).

5 Reasons for selling. Some favorites include: Have two, but only use one, so this one with no hours on it must go. Yes I'm sure to get the lightly used one. Also, "I just got this and LOVE IT!, but must sell due to blah blah. Just for once it would be refreshing to hear - I tried this, I don't really like it, maybe you will.

6 And my favorite - MUST SELL, FIRM. Well I don't mean to sound insensitive, but I've got my own problems.

Hey a bump is a bump no matter who did it, I must admit a lot of times I will not look past the 3rd page if I am looking for something.

Yeah you gotta love it when the desperate sellers want to set impossible rules for the buyers, Ebay comes to mind.

Well, to be fair, it's not that uncommon. I just did it a couple weeks ago. I have a couple Speck EQs. I quite like them. But they are the only outboard EQs I've ever owned. I'm interested as to what other flavors are out there and to explore them. So I put them up for trade for a single Lil'Freq. I said, and it was true, that it was just a for the hell of it, and that if no one was interested I wasn't going to cry. And no one was interested and I didn't cry. It was just on the off chance someone might have also been wanting to try something else. I'm not at all unhappy with them. They work quite well, and are huge bang for the buck. I was just having some gear lust and put out a feeler to see if my mirror image happened to be lurking around.

ugh. I was just about to make a similar post, but figured I'd better do a search first. Seriously, what is up with the "feelers"? Maybe your diary is a better place to post your feelings than the classifieds section.

I thought it was hilarious when a person was selling a half rack dbx compressor and the reason for selling was "to make some space"... lol what a joke, that thing was tiny! My hands were itching, I just had to reply!

"Local sale only don't want to ship."

Then they don't list a location. I truly can't believe how often this happens.

Cheers,

yeah, i've seen that a lot too:

"ABSOLUTELY MUST SELL TODAY! PRICE FIRM!"
accompanied by an unrealistic asking price

I also love when people are offering to trade random BS for music instruments on craigslist and whatnot, last good one i saw up here was someone looking to trade a parrot and a bow and arrow for a guitar

Have you ever recorded a parrot being shot by arrows? It might be really nice. People are so close minded.

It probably sounds great but we'll never know because it'll be autotuned to death.

Its a fantacy to think the mods read everthing ever posted on GS - its too busy - so we rely a lot on reported posts

Commenting negativly or off topic on someones sale thread can earn that person an infraction point. Earn 3 of those and the forum software kicks you off. "Auto ban" - hasta las vista baby..

It very common for people to report this and we always take action.

Use the report a post function

Its the excalmation mark in a red triangle.

Help us help you.

Thanks

Also-- if you'd like to report someone who added a post to a thread that maybe was not strictly germane but did achieve a special brilliance in the area of wittiness/general amusement, that's probably possible too.

Brilliance in neologism, for instance.

"Bumplicity"

"Excalmation"

But, Dean, shouldn't it be "bumplicy" as related to "policy"? The former rolls better, though.

I love browsing the classifieds, but my biggest gripe is with these sellers that are not REAL gearsluts. You know these guys that have 3 posts (all in the classified section) no studio links and they're selling high end gear at unbelievable prices with no pics. Thanks but no thanks.

Does it work the other way as well when posting positively or/& on topic?
And with a certain amount of points you...well...get a price or so?

Would be interesting to see if the general tone of the posts around here will change with a reward system like that....

I was a bit peeved at over a year listing my blank panels and selling to even mods on this site, my ad was pulled because they are "New" items.

I understand the rules, just wondered why nothing was said for over a year. Now, I have to sell on ebay only and cannot offer the bigger discounts I did here because of the fee's.

Seems you've used this "Itch" often like 7,412 times in less than 2 years.

Let's all hope you don't have the proverbial "7 Year Itch".
