Good/Decent Bands Who Bore The **** Out Of You

I'm starting from the premise that just because they bore and annoy *me*, doesn't necessarily mean they are universally ineffective or incompetent. 1) Dave Matthews Band - Oooh, that distinct vocal style, while staying on the same chord for 18 measures. Every song sounds *exactly* the same. FUN ! 2) Nickelback - Could someone tell Chad to strain and growl more, please ? He's simply waaaaaaay to effeminate, subtle, abstract, unpredictable and nebulous for me ! Every song sounds the same. 3) Green Day - Preppy, predictable, poppy 'punk'. Even when it's 'epic'. That Billy Joe is a masterful poser, with soooo much anti-establishment angst ! YAH !

"U2 since October"... OUCH.

I'll have to go with U2 since Pop. I think they were on an uphill curve until they
decided to "be themselves" again. Yawn.

-Death Cab for Cutie. I'm sorry, were you playing? I was asleep...

Oh, god I'm going to stop before I start thinking about all the "indie" rock bands I hate.

I would vote for Dream Theater. Great players, but I feel like there is zero emotion conveyed through their nearly robotic perfectionism. No offense to them because I respect them as great musicians.

Steely Dan. Great name. Good talent. A waste of both.

Cheers,

Chris Cornell has to be the most boring singer who clearly has talent that I have ever heard. He ruined Soundgarden for me. Those guys could really play, but I never liked hearing them for more than 1 song at a time.

These are all super mainstream bands.

No clue where your tastes lie. I am disturbed that you even know the singer of Nickelback's name.

Name three favorite bands.

I, like many, find common Pink Floyd (Dark Side Of The Moon ... The Wall) to be inescapably depressing and miserable. But, their early, experimental stuff with Barret ? Arnold Layne and See Emily Play are psychedelic masterpieces imo.

Bono is a worn out hamster. His voice is scraping and cracking. Their current sound, a corporatized & over-processed version of them at their least inventive, has been given more than enough attention. But their debut album 'Boy' was an incredibly innovative masterpiece. Downhill from there imo.

I love threads which bash overrated mainstream bands. I was born and raised in Southern Alberta, where Chad is idolized and I am persecuted for not worshipping Nickelcrap (well, kinda). I am a total fanatic of nearly every single British New-Wave / Punk-Rock / Post-Punk band from 1977-1982 (Adam & The Ants to XTC and every one in between - The Damned, Magazine, Gary Numan, etc.). But I spend my time listening to every indie musical act around (or try to, anyways).

LOL, good one. Peart is really just an old school prog rock specialist, not versatile at all. But really ... nothing on their 'Moving Pictures' album you find interesting ?

I'll have to check out the older stuff. I don't hate the more popular stuff - I even want to like it, but it just seems like it's missing something.

John Mayer. Plenty talented, but

Also, jam bands. Every jam band invariably describes their music as some innovative and eclectic mix of rock, jazz, blues, bluegrass, funk and whatever other random music genre they can think of, and yet it all ends up sounding like some bland generic remix of something the Dead or Zappa did 100 times better 30 years ago.

I don't know how much you know about my work, but I'm not exactly mainstream.

I was just alarmed about why anyone would even care/know about who the singer for Nickelback is. I feel sorry for you that you had to endure any populace that cares about that music.

Find a cooler community and don't think about stuff like that.

That's just product.

I honestly don't think I've ever even heard a Nickelback song all the way through and I have no clue what they actually sound like. All that shit sounds the same.

I can see the floyd being boring but not rush. Their music is pretty intense and creative. I could easily call it dorky or lame, but boring is definitely not the right word for it.

by the way....the ultimate has to be

NICKLEBACK!!!!
