Thread Starter | For the love of Mother Earth people, learn proper english and stop using double negatives. "Pro Tools doesn't open up files no more"... "I don't got no money"... "Stop looking at what you ain't got and start being thankful for what you do got"... All of these rappers in pop music.... I swear, in every song they use double negatives. None of them know how to speak properly! |

| I've grown up in the south so I've sorta learned to ignore it. It's almost more of a quirk of dialect rather than true ignorance because most of these people wouldn't write this way. That being said, there are an awful lot of people who get their "there, their, and they'res" mixed up. It's funnier when it's words that are COMPLETELY different like "won" and "one." I think those are the kind of people who speak when they type. |

| Gear Guru | Of course there are socially not unaccepted double negatives as well. Not uncalled for, not unknown, not without merit, and so forth. |

| I think you are gonna have to get used to it. AFAICT "dumb" is the new "cool" and I expect new depths of dumb will be dug in order to appear even cooler. If you talk too intelligently you run the risk of sounding gay. These are the beginning stages of our very own Idiocracy.....

| Lives for gear | I do English Language A Level - I hate it but, technically double negatives are not "wrong", just "non-standard". By saying it's right or wrong you are being prescriptavist when you can't really be - language will change with or without you. I cld tlk lyk ths nd it wud reli b anoyin but it aint rong, get me blud?

Even when someone uses the word "bad" to mean "good" they know what they are conveying. People who say "I don't got no" without irony have no idea that they have chosen the wrong words to communicate the idea " I don't have any". I do understand though how the educational system have taken cultural relativity to extremes in order to be inclusive of illiterates because telling an illiterate that they are wrong is just hurtful isn't it? We can't just go around hurting the illiterates feelings by telling them they can't read can we? | |

| Lives for gear | It's not "Wrong". Who's to say those aren't words? Who's to say the language won't evolve into that? Unlikely, sure, but it's not "wrong". You still got the message of the writing, thus it is performing its duties. It's not "wrong". It's just non-standard. |

Thread Starter | Yes, it's wrong if what you typed is supposed to be considered english. As of right now those are not english words. When someone's resume looks like that and the person is hired feel free to PM me. Until then it's not english... it's just plain lazy and disrespectful. |
