Facebook, dear god.

What is it with people on Facebook that makes them want to describe every boring mundane detail of their dull, pathetic lives to the world?

This goes out to all the dullards on Facebook inflicting your uninteresting life on others, stop, stop it now! You're a bane on society ....... Get a fricking life why don't-cha?

Man, that felt good.

its so sad is it not

I got friend I went to high shool with and his updates go something like this

waiting for my girl to get home...

my girl is home I am so happy.

my girl just went to bed.

I cant wait till morning when my girl wakes up.

are you F"N kidding me ! Get a damn life. Granted I am on here a lot but at least for the most part I am trying to decipher my way thru the myriad of misinformation to find something of value. Which actually does happen quite often.

I'm really disapointed in a friend I've known for over 20 years, his comments go like this ..

10.00am ... I've just had a cheese sandwhich
10.30 ... I'm watching the TeeVee
11.00 ... I like cakes

I'm not exaggerating, thing is, in real life he's an ok guy, ever since he's joined Facebook it's like someones stolen his brain, think I'm going to scrub him from my friends list as I just can't take reading that crap anymore.

On the plus side, it's good to make connections with friends that you've lost touch with and have a real conversation on a phone or meet up.

I think as a general statement which I hate, people want fame, want to be looked at. Facebook gives them that or so it seems. I refer to them as the LOOK-AT-ME crowd. Whatever it takes to get attention. I went on there to try and get in touch with some old friends and it really has only served to depress me even more when it comes to society in general.

It seems almost everyone I grew up with that is on there is doing exactly like your friend. I read this stuff and I think "what the hell happened to these people". Are they actually typing this stuff and reading it themselves. I have now just resorted to using the email feature to get in touch with people I need to

Maybe it's designed like that to cut down on the server headroom? Agreed, it's a woefully ugly site.

I didn't think of the only-email option, thanks for the tip-off, your post about your friend is so similar to my mate and his drivel, each time I pop on there (which is very seldom) I sigh, just the usual suspects, typing the same vacuous, tiresome garbage, boy oh boy.

Think you've hit the nail on the head with the look at me crowd statement.

Went through the same thing, but it has its' uses. I hide posts from particular people - so I don't have to observe their banal carry-on but still have the connection. FB has lead to some goodtimes - it just seems to have a large debt associated with mediocrity

All you have to do is hide the people you don't want to see, that way the annoying over posters don't fill up your screen every day. Just mouse over the upper-righthand corner of the update, and the little 'hide' box will appear. You can also hide app updates specifically, which comes in handy because some apps post everything to the user's status, and active app users can be very annoying. Knowing mundane life details is one thing, but I definitely don't need to know that somebody moved up a level in Mafia Wars, who cares?

Just The Facts RE Facebook use and emoticons

  1. Facebook emoticons are primarily used by teenagers, grandparents, and people who can't read.
  2. A study concluded that a whopping 103% of users of Facebook's chat feature typed an emoticon every other line.
  3. The same study reported that the consensus of these users was that they needed more emoticons.

Yeah, and worse--I know my daughter is back with her useless boyfriend. Unfortunately, the kid isn't smart enough to block me.

You can Hide your friends there. I've had to do it, I'd no idea they were so boring After that, to get any enjoyment from that God-forsaken place is to simply lie about what you're doing, what your marital status is, when your birthday is, just lie through your teeth A friend of mine just posted pictures and said nothing. LOL

Yeah, I really didn't know what Facebook was all about other than just a vague notion, but I got an account at the urging of a friend who touted it as "the way people are starting to communicate." I shut it down about 2 weeks later when people from my past came crawling out of the woodwork.

The last straw was when a creepy old teacher from high school came trolling around wanting to "get together" in person. I closed my account in the next 15 minutes.

I took this girl out on a date to only find out she freaken did a update on her facebook 10 min after she got home about the whole night. Went on and on about what we talked about and so on. Nothing bad but I found it a bit creepy. She wonders why I never asked her out again (read that on one of her facebook posts).........
