GTR Tone & Futile Fight to Get it Right

I was listening to the Jimi Hendrix four CD box set with a friend the other day and we were talking about how even though the GTR was out of tune a lot of times and the amp was ragged as hell. The recorded tone was most likely one mic on one Marshall cab without a hours of searching for the perfect tone. A lot of Hendrix stuff was recorded on that Datamix console and you can't GIVE those modules away!

Still, the result was "better" than most stuff that has followed in the rock world.
It was THIRTY FIVE years ago!
Not that there hasn't been some great stuff over the years.

We decided that it's all in the playing... everything else is window dressing.

We also decided that most recorded guitar sounds since are variations of the same thing.
In fact, most all recordings are now variations of the same thing!

We can only hope to capture greatness... because you certianly can't create it!

This'll make a few people mad I guess! tutt
