but I know its not...had to buy the 'expendibles' today, such as back up drives, copier paper, that kinda crap....not a lot of money, but its the principle of the thing!

I don't mind spending duckets on anything that produces/reproduces sound, but...I HATE spending a dime on anything else...this nickle+diming is gonna be the death of me.

I try to pick up such things at my local Sam's club, and I try to go when they're offering samples of food. That helps... Plus, if you're using a company check, then you can also pick up some snacks, books, CD's and DVD's for the studio. Or some new shirts, tires, and fruit...

That's one reason why there's a company checkbook!

In all honestly, the cost of expendibles isn't so drastic when considering the overhead of this business....and most stuff can be written off at tax time...

I can only imagine the overhead and expendibles incurred by large studios! Some of the bigger operations probably have a higher paper bill than the quarterly gross of small jobs like me...

This is one of the things that needs to be addressed when someone is wanting to get into this (or any business) that somehow gets forgotten during business plan stages...

Yep - I seem to average $80-$100 a month for blank CD's, and typically go through a couple of reams of copier and printer paper a month. Buy the big boxes at an office supply store, and you only have to re-plenish about every 4 or 5 months...
