why is GS site loading really really slowly?

this just started happening to me today, but the site here is loading incredibly slowly.. and is the only site i've visted acting this way.

i'm on a mac pro using safari. the status bar at the bottom of the safari window will display "loading 23 of 24items" or whatever.. and always hang up on that last item..

takes maybe 2 minutes to load any one page or post

i just tested with Firefox and it, too, is being painfully slow.

anyone else experiencing this, or is it something only on my end?

thanks!

weird... all day long acting strange and now it seems to be fine..

I got it too. Sometimes, a page may take ages to load, then it goes back to normal. The situation gets worse when I have another Flash-enabled site on another tab. I suspect it may be Flash ads, or the "crawlability" add-on.

I can help with debugging if necessary.

++aldo

Crawling here on several machines. But, amazing how much I'm getting done when I can't get on Gearslutz!. I'm sure I'll miss it soon though. .........which is why I waited out loading the moan zoan to see if anybody else was crawling. It's been at least a few days here.

Yep.. Several times. Also when I get emails that someone has replied to a thread I am subscribed to, I click the link and it takes me to Page 1, first post, even though I'm logged in.

Running fast tho so I guess I can't really complain too much!

OK, I just experienced a crawl while loading an advertisement. I took a screenshot (attached below).

The banner ad stopped loading midway. I got the beach ball (the hourglass for Mac users) for about one whole minute, until the rest of the banner loaded, then it went back to normal. There was another Flash-rich web site (facebook) on another tab.

Hope this helps. Mods, please let me know what you mean by a "traceroute" and I'll run one for you if needed.

Thanks,
++aldo
