Fellow Slutz: The past few days I've been getting that feeling (scratchy throat, weak, body aches, etc.). I have a vacation to London/France coming up in less than 2 weeks....I'm doing my best to fight off this cold or flu or whatever it is trying to be. Wanted to hear anybody's suggestions on battling this....old wives tales...herbal solutions....whatever ya got. Thanks! -Matt |

#1 A bottle of vitamin C.... This tends to be what people take for a cold. #2 a box of Some no name "Cold FX".... Your supposed to take these as soon as you feel like your getting sick.... But at the end of the day they are just herbs that help pump up your immune system so even know I was already sick I took them... You have to take like 5 a day and they aren't cheap. #3 Buckleys Cold and Flu Pills..... they help you sleep and you NEED to sleep. #4 A few 1.36 Litre cans of Heinz tomato juice. Most people hate the taste of tomato juice but this shit is good for you. It also has Vitamin C in it aswell as other Vitamins..... And it has other shit in it that helps to detoxify your system..... It's really good for your liver (which helps when your sick), and really good for your prostate as-well.... just as a bonus hahaha. #5 Soup..... Hot soup makes you feel good... It's good to try and have something in your belly thats not super greasy, and you might not feel like cooking or eating. Soup is easy to cook and it's good for you. If you get all that shit.... Drink a decent amount of water.... and stay home and lay down you WILL feel better in 3 days...... You will definitely feel better for your Vacation. Remember though you have to take it easy.... DON'T WORK if you want to feel better in time....lay around and watch TV for a few days (Seriously if you don't rest you will get way worse and if you are REALLY sick in 2 weeks they won't let you on a plane even if you try)......Stay Hydrated by drinking water...... And drink the damn tomato juice.... trust me it helps. | |

I have had success fending off sickness by doing the following: 1) Take massive amounts of Vitamin C every day, no less than 2000mg-4000mg. Take it over the course of the day after meals. 2) Get adequate sleep, you really do need a solid eight hours a night, especially when your body is fighting off a bug. Sleep is one of the biggest factors in keeping immunity high. 3) Drink plenty of fluids, but stay away from things like coffee, soda, and alcohol. All of these weaken or tax your body which can compromise the immune system. |

Thanks staudio and silent-sam. I'm trying a vitamin C, Airborne, Green Tea, and soup route....thinking about adding tomato juice to it if I can stomach that stuff. I have Sun. and Mon. off and will take it easy. So far, the heavy congestion and sore throat I usually get have not set in, maybe I am winning the battle? -Matt |

Zicam (mouth spray) + DayQuil has been my recent combo. Last two times I felt like I was coming down with something, I used the Zicam and DQ right away and felt fine in a few days. Good luck... Being sick sucks. |

Don't fight it. You'll be better in a week, with a week spare before you leave.
