I hate NEIGHBORS

I live in an apartment. My neighbors stink. First it was can't use the subwoofer past 8PM. I could live with that. Then it was 7PM. I could still live with that. Fair. Now, they are saying that if I continue to have clients walk to my apartment in their hallway, they will call the landlord.

I have clients come only when the mixes are near completion so they can make comments. There is no difference between having clients come by and having friends come by. Luckily my landlord agreed and told them to quit bugging him.

Really annoying situation.

Talking

I have awesome neighbors. Been recording in my apartment for about 5 years now. Drum kits, guitar cabs, bass rigs, choirs, you name it. Of course it helps to be extra friendly with them.

I've always made an effort to make my closest neighbor aware in advance of any drum sessions-- those bother him the most. My other neighbors don't seem to hear anything. Maybe because we are really close to the freeway? There have been times when I've said "Yeah we finished recording drums yesterday" and they say, "Oh really? We didn't even hear it!" thumbsup

If I ever have to move into another apartment I will definitely scope out the neighbors and chat with them before I sign anything.

When recording drums or loud guitars , I just buy the neighbours some cinema tickets .
They are out having fun and the volumes are free to rise :D

that's funny. If you lived next door, and thought it was ok to use a sub woofer after eight, i'd be pissed too.

keep it down dd

the adjacent room to my studio is their laundry room. I have been in their place with my system blasting and the ONLY place you can hear anything is in the laundry room. They are just dicks. Plain and simple. I'm gonna rent a house in the valley, I'm done with Hollywood.

I had neighbors who liked to complain just for the sake of complaining...they'd call to tell me to stop playing the drums when I was on the opposite side of the house and someone else in the neighborhood just had a boom box out in their backyard.

That's why your house/ apartment/ condo is zoned RESIDENTIAL.

If you have any clients whatsoever, find a back room in some half burned-out industrial district, rent it for $200/ month (or much less in this economy), and TURN THAT SHIT UP.

We usually can mix/track up until 4pm -- almost everyday - > - after that ~~ its headphones

Never any live drums -- and most guitars are direct ---

We only have a dozen or so homes in the whole neighborhood -- the next home , out the back of the studio, is about 100+ miles --- we all live here , in this neighborhood ~~ because of the serenity. Not a street light .. and you can hear the owls wings flap > sitting in the front yard /// would not want to disturb the peace

I can say 100% that these complaints are just for the sake of complaining. How often can someone do laundry? From anywhere in their place its completely inaudible, its just the damn laundry room that rumbles a tiny bit. Whatever I'm moving.

I'v been lucky. There appartements where I live are so well sound isolated that my neigbour can have a wild party without me knowing it.
