Barking Dogs and their irresponsible owners

Barking Dogs and their irresponsible owners

I'm not talking about a dog that barks occasionally, but incessant yap yap or loud barking and owners that refuse to responsibly quiet them out of respect for others living there...

For instance, we live in the burbs and have this animal owner that thinks she's running a shelter. Her two bull mastiffs bark all the time - so much in fact, I had to call local Animal Control, something I've never done before. When he arrived she blamed it on dogs down the block! Even the officer laughed at this ludicrous excuse.

I realize there's a level of normal noise you must tolerate when living in a community, but aside from loud rap music this is the worst. I see a lot of you are animal lovers on here - that's great, I just hope none of you are as trashy and disrespectful as this.

Move out the surburbs to somewhere around Compton. I'm sure you'll have more peace and quiet there.

in the old days, dogs that wandered off too far from the camp and were too noisy and stupid got eaten by wolves and bears.

Wow, I was already beginning to think that Gearslutz kinda sucks these days and the shitty attitude around here was getting a little overboard, but now I'm convinced. The collective intelligence shown on this thread alone would probably make the Palin family proud... not to mention the compassion.
Nice one.

Olivia,

Ironically enough, the reasons you think GS sucks is exactly the reasons I think it's great - different thoughts, people, cultures, debates, etc. It sounds more like you don't like it because nobody's saying what you want them to think/feel.

I'm all for showing compassion to those DESERVING of it, but when an animal owner and his, as far as I'm concerned 'pests' are not doing that to me, then actions need to be taken.

Also, I don't really hear anything constructive in your reply as well.

So to end my rant on a funny note, allow me to quote Gordon Gecko (Michael Douglas) in Wall Street the movie:

"W.A.S.P.S - they love animals, but they hate people"

Yeah, different opinions are great, offering that a person's dog isn't worth $1200 a year or better yet, feeding them anti-freeze really raises the level of discourse around here. GS has become a place to be snarky and rude, low brow humor and bickering are about par for the course here these days. Youtube is probably only ranking a bit lower.
I'm ranting here too and using my "opinion" to clue a few in they're behaving like low life ****s. If they think it's cool to tell me to get a new ****ing dog, then I figure it can't hurt them to get a wakeup call on their insensitivity.
For what it's worth I was with you on the barking dogs and calling animal control, it just all goes downhill from here.

I agree with you for the most part, but I think the 'anti-freeze' jokes are all in good humour. It just disgusts me sometimes when I see how humans treat other humans and then I see them turn around and treat their dogs better.. but I get what you're saying kinda...

But those damn barking dogs behind us

You have to be careful about reporting the dog and having record of it. In case you ever have to take more serious measures.

I'd rather hear the obnoxious "constant alert" bark than what I've got here now. Lately, there's been an ongoing latenight "yelp" about a block away which sounds like a young dog trapped in a kennel at the vet or something. I'm guessing someone got a cute puppy, then pushed it outside when it got bigger and is ignoring it or something. Inconsideration for the neighbors is bad enough, but if you had no sympathy for something making this particular noise all night, you really have no business owning a pet.

Take Care

dogs are nice. i wouldn't hurt so much as a flea. its just when the line is crossed and they become pests then its either you or them.

i don't blame the dogs necessarily, but the owners. i got this woman in the condo below who keeps here slide door open and every once in a while the dog runs to the screen, or out on the patio, and goes on a ten minute bark jag...at any hour of the day or night. what is highly irritating is the that you'd think...YOU'D THINK...that the woman...who is also up at all odd hours....would have the common sense to shut the ****ing dog up, considering we're all living in a complex with VERY close neighbors.

I'd be lying if I didn't fantasize often of wacking the cute little thing...

totally fukkin hear ya.

i was staying at my sister's place in NC, and she and her husband treat their dogs like freeking royalty.

these dogs have been to every freeking training program, and won all kinds of freeking awards,
but they won't SHUT THE FUKK UP, and it drives my fukking CRAZY.

makes me LITERALLY not want to go down there...and that's just SILLY!

get those barking dogs OUT OF MY FACE already.....jeezuz h christ....

how IS it, that people don't hear their own dogs?...it's like HELLOOOO??

and since when have dogs become more important than freeking humans, to one another?

they live in the burbs, too - and i sure as hell wouldn't want to be their neighbors...

Really Cold water my friends.. Doesn't hurt the animal and for some reason, they don't really feel all that much like barking when they're cold and soaking wet.

After a few times, you can just go outside, look at them and they'll stop barking. If the owner complains, tell them to quiet their animals.

my neighbor used to have a hound dog that wold not shut up. Now I love animals but i was ready to shoot this lil pup.

I got out on the front porch at 3:30amish with my single shot, break-action .410 and shoot like 10 times into the air. Dog didnt bark for the rest of the years - no shit. i had to convince my gf that i didnt kill it by taking her to see it. i dunno what the hell the dog thought, probably armageddon with those ears. but it was a cheap fix and fun too.
