UPS, again

They no longer hold packages after the 3rd delivery attempt for UPS ground... just send them back to the shipper... the shipper in this case being Daddy's junky music who decided to use an old address they had in my system despite my using my new address for this order (their confirmation even lists the new address).

I want to see your point but signature required is a must in these times, it protects you from getting ripped off. I sat around all day today waiting on a API 512c because I knew it had a signature attached. Its a bitch but you have to do it.

We have a UPS account. I love their "Adjusted Amount" that shows on the bill after the package ships. They ALWAYS tack on $7-$10 for 3 pound shipments and claim they were actually 5. Like I don't know how to measure and weigh a box ... and who's to challenge it? The package is gone! Crooks.

Blame Daddy's. They have the ability to call UPS and alter the destination address.

Seriously. It's Daddy's fault it went to the wrong address, not UPS's. Call them up and have them fix the order.

BTW, with all these shipping services, the shipper can generally resolve any issue. The recipient is generally unable to alter any of the terms of service.

UPS actually recently made it a hell of a lot harder to redirect stuff. I work in customer service and the inevitable little screw-ups happen. Recently I called UPS to redirect a shipment, but was told on the phone by our "Preferred Representative" that the only way to redirect the shipment was using their UPS Worldship software (that we don't use for many reasons). The representative said that they started this recently because fraud was ramping up.

My bitch is that UPS says their policy since July is to send ground packages back to the shipper after the 3rd attempt instead of holding it like they used to. I have NO problem with signature required.

While we're at it I asked them to hold it yesterday, they said they would... went there this afternoon (20 minute drive) and they said it was out on the truck because I requested the hold "too late" yesterday. They said to come back today between 7pm and 7:30. Arrived at about 6:50 (another 20 minute drive) and there were already 30 people ahead of me (that is in NO WAY an exaggeration). Took about 45 mintutes to get the package.

Oh yeah and if you call customer service and don't enter a tracking number the robot it tells you to call back when you have one without offering the option of an operator.

Now can I complain about UPS?

Oh, there's always plenty of room to complain about all the shippers. My local UPS does the same thing. They "hold" the packages on the trucks. So, they always tell you can pick it up, but they give you a time after they've closed their doors. You have to tap on the glass for them to let you in, if they walk by, and then they'll go look for it on the truck if it's back and if it's convenient.

It's just insane how these companies work.
