Issue with hot mix in Pro Tools

Hi, I'm new to this forum and have a question regarding setting a master volume for a mix. Sorry if this sounds like a newbie question.

Currently I'm wrapping up mixes in Pro Tools soon to be sent to get mastered, however the master fader is already quite hot! So i was wondering, is there any way within pro tools 8 to group all your tracks in the session and lower them in volume , including all the volume automation you have written in one go?

Any help would be wonderful!

Thanks
Grant

Set the output of the I/O section for each track to an Aux buss and adjust the fader there. Having only a single pass at automation hardly soound adequate to be ready for mastering. Especially knowing that you have little to no experience at mixing. You should mix your material as best you can leaving plenty of headroom for the mastering engineer. Search this forum to get more infomation on setting up auxillary busses and read the PT manual which covers the subject indept. Good Luck!

set up a Master fader for the output and turn it down - that's what it's for.

If you have loads of subgroups clipping buss then set up Master faders for each of those subgroups.
