Artists in videos singing into wrong side of Cardioid Mic

I just happened to start noticing in music videos that a lot of the time artists are singing into the back of a cardioid mic (and they don't seem to be switchable either) I understand that they aren't actually recording, but it is a distraction to me. Does this bother anyone else?

What bothers me way more are guitars or keyboards that aren't plugged in.

Also annoying is ridiculous over the top motorized fader movement in studio shots.

Sometimes you see a side adress mic sung from the top but there´s a reason:
The mic is set to 8 and s/he is singing to the null to avoid a double of his/hers voice, get it?

What is really annoying is when someone sees a mic in a video and then comes on here and says "so and so used such and such mic on that track". If they can't even plug the guitars in or face the mic in the right direction for the video, then I wouldn't trust that they bothered to use the same mic that was used in the actual recording.
Same thing goes for guitars, amps, etc.

Most plausible answer.

It's something that's been seen at least once or twice in print ads for mic companies. Who, you know, presumably look at the fruits of their advertising expenditures and sign off on these things. Who knows what their thinking -- if any --is on such a thing. But I've always got a big laugh out of such apparent muff-ups. It's kind of like the famous snapshot of the SM57 carefully position in front of the Marshall amp head. (The speakerless Marshall amp head.)

Gotta be an advertising stipulation. Like VISA in the NFL commercials where they "swipe" the card through the machine on the wrong side just to show the logo.

Definitely not a new thing. I was watching a TV appearance by Cream last night. They are lip syncing of course, and Jack Bruce is holding a guitar, not a bass, and he's just vaguely flicking his fingers over the strings. And Ginger Baker isn't even remotely playing the same thing as you are hearing. It was pretty funny. Clapton was making an attempt to look like he was actually doing it.

Much more noticeable is the keyboard guitar with nothing plugged in... see that one all the time.

Personally tho, being a drummer, the one that kills me is seeing the drummer thrashing around completely out of sync.

You have to pay really good money to get a drummer who's good at stick-syncing.
