We're any of those bands on the New Years specials actually playing?

So we were sitting around pregaming at a friends house last night and watching the new years shows. I haven't watched one of these for ages and it was pretty hilarious. My question is were any of those bands actually playing what we were hearing? We caught so many slip ups between what we saw and heard. Like the Ting Tings, where the girls playing rhythm and she adjusts the mic and the rhythm keeps going. Just lots of stuff like that. Synth bass line going on when theres some dude holding a bass on luda. The ting tings drummer looked pretty sick though actually I think he was actually playing. Anyway was I just pregamming a little too hard, or has it really gotten to the point where half or all of the band are just holding instruments, smiling and dancing to a protools track?

Amazing isn't it?
I have never been able to figure out why cable TV with 140 of crap can't have one channel dedicated to live music. In fact, I can hardly find any live music on TV period.
It is so bad that if I catch Lawrence Welk I watch it. At least they are live

Palladia actually plays live concerts most of the day. Music videos for the other part of the day. It is shocking that an MTV network channel that shows music!

i presume you're talking about the jools holland special? ting tings were "playing" to a backing track.. drums, vox and some percs were live.

on the other hand duffy, rico rodriguez, annie lennox, edel, martha and the vandellas were all 100% live.. and most awesome thumbsup

I think that pretty much how the Ting Tings perform; I haven't seen any footage of them playing without a large amount of the material coming from replay.

Waste of time IMO

Palla HD is pretty good but they tend to rotate out the same concerts so there ends up being a lot of repetition. But the channel is cool none the less.
