The ethics of Some Posters on Internet forums (My Final Post)

I really have to question the motives of some of the postings on these forums (GearSlutz, EQ, PSW. and the DUC to name a few).
I wonder how many people work for companies that make and sell gear post on these forums with completely with alternate motives (to Sell their Brand of gear) A great deal of claims some make here are totally exaggerated IMO.
If I would give anyone the best piece of advice here is to try the piece of gear out for yourself and form your "OWN" opinion.
I think it's unfair that companies get people to to post complete nonsense and make claims that are false. I am not saying that this is true in all cases.
Over and Outta here. And Logged out.

Well, no point in replying to that now is there...........ooooops!

It might be true in some cases TRS, but I for one do not feel it is as big a problem as you make out.

I guess I should keep my mouth shut and NEVER show examples of my workmanship lest someone should decide to insert a "pissing monkey" in their reply.

Hence, nothing I've achieved in the past 35 years should EVER be mentioned. I've wasted the past 35 years, I guess.

Life as we know of it quit in 1970.

I think it's part of some nefarious scheme by the fabulously wealthy and omnipotent GearMaker (Played to delicious satisfaction by Christopher Walken) to become even richer by inserting a kind of hypnotic video 'drone' into their posts thus brainwashing the wee 'Gearfolk' (Played by the Care Bears) into petty crime in order to support an ever-increasing apetite for gear made by said omnipotent GearMaker.

T_R_S,

When it comes to sound, it is mostly opinion. We all have our opinions, sometimes they agree, sometimes not. You have to weigh all this out when coming to any type of conclusions as to what to buy/use etc. Of course the most important thing is how it sounds to you with your particular setup/situation.

That being said, I agree that the opinion of people in the business of selling gear needs to be adjusted as slightly biased. More in some cases than others. So it is your job to do a little ground work and get to know the posters, and place value on their opinions accordingly.

But in conclusion, I don't think it is reasonable to throw up your hands and get pissed about this, I mean it isn't like you are PAYING for this information...

I get more pissed about the bs being printed in the magazines, that is obviously biased (toward advertiser's dollars). A person DOES pay for these magazines and they are buying faulty information.

The magazines are defective products in my opinion.

Only if Walken reprises the "watch" scene from Harold & Maude, but with a U47, and a Carebear... THAT I would pay money to see.

Hey TRS - so you think it's bad here at GS???

You'll only get kicked in the testicles if you buy without trying it.

I dont blame builders and creaters for being proud of there work... Its there life's work and it makes me happy that there are so many passionate people out there who are building great sounding gear for the masses to enjoy.

ie. Tim Farrant, Geoff Tanner, etc...

I guess we'll throw this on the "paranoia causing the industries downfall" pile along with mp3's, ipods, ashlee simpson and a sobbing engineer or two unwilling to let the "golden age" go...

I hate it when people lie on the internet.

Hate to burst your bubble there, but a great many people that are on this forum do audio for a living, and they would be idiots not to believe in the product they are producing.

Examples? If someone says that their life changed when they bought specific preamp... that could be true in their case, the advantage is you have is you don´t have to read it. My piece of advice is that if you think its BS, don´t read it.

Examples? What are companies supposed to do, not advertise and tell you that their product sucks. This is called advertising and it happens everywhere, including gearslutz.... and again, if its BS, don´t read it. This is a "FREE" information center so don´t be suprised that it may be tainted with BS.
Good luck on finding a better place for audio knowledge.
