There's often a bright side to even the most depressing situations. In this particular case, due in large part to the sickly state of the commercial recording studio biz, it has never been less expensive, in real terms, for a composer or producer to utilize live musicians in a production. And yet, the "new product" forum on this website is flooded with folks discussing sampling software?!?! I just don't get it......when you can hire and record a real musician for very reasonable rates, what advantage is there to using a sampled version instead? And just a a general comment, no recording engineer who ever uses a sampled version of any instrument has the right to EVER complain about the economic hardships of our business; because you are directly responsible.

the people discussing sampling software probably don't have studio musicians available in their area Steve. Or probably want good quality preproduction for demos to have then recorded by session guys. I don't think anyone with some sort of sanity would prefer to use samples over musicians if they were in their budget.
