Mezzo pain in the ass

I have a 9600 in MY pro tools rig (no usb port). I wanted to get Mezzo to do all my backing up my hotswapable AIT3 drive (pretty cool huh?) Only problem is I also do a lot of work on rentals, and client's rigs and need to be able to use mezzo on them too. I understand these companies need to find piracy, but just image buying a CD that you could only play on 1 cd player.
Anyway, I email mezzo about this delemma, and they came with a solution that seemed to answer my problems. For an extra $100, they'd let me authroize mezzo on my 9600, then send me a iLok and cd with a authorization that I could use on rigs other than my own. I place my order on 04/17. I authorize my 9600 and wait for my iLok.
One week goes by, two weeks, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,
After several emails , I finally got my iLok YESTERDAY (after being told it should have been received in a week)... Keep in mind I get rental everytime I use my AIT.
So I'm excited to get the iLok after a painful wait, and take it to an artist (who I doubt has ever backed up in his life) project studio I do quit a bit of tracking at. I open my package I grabbed out of my mailbox on the way to the studio and low & behold, NO MEZZO cd software. madd Here's a quote from the piece of paper that came with the iLok: "Copy protection material method: PRE-Authorized iLok Device. Other informationrequired to authorize this copy of Mezzo is contained inside the CD package. Mezzo Software on CD:4.1.2"
On any other day, I would've just downloaded the install and been on my way, but this project studio didn't have net access (and my laptop was at home).

This just doesn't seem like the type my service you'd expect for a $600 peice of backing up software (that requires me to re authorize in a couple of months).... " Mezzo"

Update: Today (7/06/02) I receive a CD from mezzo in the mail. Better late than never I guess.

I heard of all this I-Lock PITA stuff, my sympathies

Hmmmm..... perhaps that laptop with internet better come with you to ALL sessions in future! I have one with a built in CDR - it's damn handy!

I am still on retrospect, I understand Mezzo is better.. I feel a new topic coming on!

Yeah, normally I take my laptop everywhere but it was tied up at the time (I was double booked on that day working on a session at my pad & at the project studio)
