Its gettin hard in NYC

Wow. Anyone else starting to really feel the pinch??? Do people even record in NYC anymore?? I need to figure out something fast or I'll have to get a regular job!!!!! Somedays feel harder then others but today is the worst I've felt in a long time.

It's one of the reasons why I'm glad I built my place into my house

I built my place in my house too. While business is fairly new for me (2 years professional) I experienced a steady increase from Sept-april and may just dropped off- who knows.

If it helps I'm in tampa and local economy sucks. I have an uncle with a multi-million dollar screen printing company who's experiencing a pinch too, my wife's uncle is in Atlanta with HIGH END oriental rug company and says business sucks for him and everyone else in atlanta right now.

Keep your head up- sell some gear you don't use, and turn off the AC when a client isnt in :-)

I think everything is harder money wise in NYC.
I make nice money here, but am always playing catch up it seems.
Well that is what you get for living here.

Tried NYC- it wasn't expensive enough so I moved back to London.

Our economy sucks and people can't afford to record anymore.
Unemployment is at an all time high in nyc and surrounding cities.
With the strength of the dollar shrinking more and more by the day, it's getting harder for people to justify recording budgets when they can't make ends meet.
After 3 years of making money hand over fist at my studio i have been forced to close it down and go back to freelancing, live sound, and touring. As i search for a staff position at another studio.

if any one needs me i can be found on the corner of 42nd and 8th holding a cardboard sign that reads "Have API, Will Mix For Food!"
