| Lives for gear | I'm not going to complain about lost posts, just say thanks for your hard work on this forum! And speaking of people being "repetitive," or "whiny," or whatever, I think you guys haven't been to many other active forums. This place is BY FAR the tamest and least off-topic forum I've ever been to. Count your blessings!

| I hope Jules is aware that someone is making an excuse. Generally 24 hours of downtime and a loss of 48 hours of data doesn't happen in this day and age. Hosting providers would get sued out of business if their systems were that vulnerable. Businesses cannot be built on such a weak foundation (imagine two days' worth of online orders billed but lost). Most likely this site is run on shoestring out of someone's back pocket, and I'm not complaining at all...any site is better than no site. But there's really no practical reason at this point in web technology to have less than five nines of availability and full recovery and failover capability. That level of reliability is no longer expensive for a simple site like this. Generally these are human resources problems (someone who doesn't know what they are doing has agreed to take the responsibility). As long as Jules isn't being hoodwinked with technical jibberish from whomever is responsible it's OK... |

| Yes! Exciting isn't it! VBULLETIN 3.7.0 RELEASED Following a very successful public pre-release testing phase, we are delighted to announce the release of vBulletin 3.7.0. This new version supersedes vBulletin 3.6 as our primary, stable and supported release. vBulletin 3.7.0 is now available for download from the vBulletin Members' Area by all customers with active vBulletin licenses. In this new release, we have concentrated on improving features for visitors to your vBulletin forum by implementing social networking tools such as extended user profile pages with visitor messaging, user picture albums, user-created social groups and reciprocal friendship creation. We have also taken steps to help forum staff deal with the growing problem of bulletin board spam by improving our human verification tools to prevent automated systems from registering and posting, and putting in place a one-stop-shop tool for dealing with spam and spammers in the inline moderation system. Here is a brief but far from comprehensive list of some of the new features making their debut in vBulletin 3.7.0: * Inline spam management & prevention * Thread tagging * Search cloud / tag cloud * Thread prefixes * Reciprocal friendships between users * Public visitor messaging on profile pages with 'conversation' feature * User picture galleries with user comment facility * User-created social groups with invite only and moderated membership options * Extended member profile pages * Customizable member profile pages with admin-controlled styling abilities * Inline editing of custom user profile fields * Lightbox viewer for attached images * Viewable and comparable history maintained for post edits * Extended re-authentication for inline moderation actions * Notices system for navigation bar * New human-verification tools including reCAPTCHA, and question/answer * User change history * Social bookmarking integration For further details on these features, take a look at the 'First Look' thread, available at vBulletin.com: vBulletin 3.7 First Look! - vBulletin Community Forum ![]()

| It seems it's more than a couple of posts and a few threads that were lost. I clicked from my link the thread on "demos for publishers" and there's no posts after April 14th. That's more than 2 weeks of posts...and that's just on one thread. There are many others like that. It's not the end of the world but there's been a ton of posts and threads lost. I hope they can recover it...

| Instead of wasting time telling people that two mics for $250 each is probably better to augment their collection of 2 SM57 and some MXL mic than a single $600 LDC... I upgraded to Sonar 7 while GS was down... So, you cost me $200, Jules. -tINY |
