| "Though I will put the cat amongst the pigeons by saying I recorded a beautiful female vocal once using an MKH 40 mic". Nothing wrong with that - they had some very good traits - I once recorded almost a whole album's vox with a 25 yr old 451 eb -suited the singer , sounded terrific. | as far as design goes there´s no quorelling about taste. I for my part never found the body shape of U-67s/U87/89 spectacular designs. However I find it a nice turn from "sennheiser" to remind to Georg Neumann on their new mic. |

| I love my TLM 170's and I'm sure this mic will be quite useable. A refreshing break from all the Chinese junque. I think a lot of the "advance naysayers" here just can't afford it. That's why they're dissing the mic. If the naysayers get around any real recording pros and start shooting their mouth off about something they have never heard, they'd probably get slapped in the face----or at least told to, "get your mouth shut!" (Is there anything wrong with politely saying, " I have the impression you don't know what you're talking about?") I look forward to hearing it. |

| I used to have two tlm 170's in the locker for at least 20 years, and I quite liked them. Never used them that much on vocals, but on plenty of occasions. imho, that was not at all the subject of argument. The subject was about 1) marketing it like something close to a U67 thanx to some toobe emulation circuit 2) the latest release of Neumann, and a growing (apparently) discontentment about their latest line of product. I have absolutly no idea about how it will sound (So I wouldn't either be "sure this mic will be quite useable" for that reason yet) , and I sincerely hope for the best. malice

| I just had a thought. As far as I know, this mic is supposed to have the same capsule and housing as the U87, right? So, I wonder if the innertube U87 mod would work with the TLM67? If it does, it would be a much cheaper way to get the innertube modded mic. |

I will say only this.... It is not a moderator's responsibility to censor people that disagree with you (which is what you are asking and what you have been asking in the post that I originally quoted)). You don't have the right to determine what is a "useful post".... almost everything you've said isn't useful to me... by that logic, everything you've said should be deleted. If someone wants to say "Neumann makes crappy mics now", or even "Neumann makes great mics", with nothing else added, that is their right. ![]()

| I know this seems a bit obvious, but isn't this the wrong forum for TLM mics. Full stop. TMY |

| I noticed at the AES Microtech Gefell was celebrating the 80th birthday of Neumann microphones as well, with a M990AE mic. Handmade, tube, and transformer of course. Funny it has almost the same color scheme as the TLM67. A bit less ugly though.

| If Neumann get it right with the TLM67 i think they could sell about 1,000,000 tlm67 mics Behringer has sold one million mixers. Behringer.com says - With close to one million units sold. MIXERS / POWERED MIXERS - XENYX MIXERS SERIES - XENYX 2442FX : Premium 24-Input 4/2-Bus Mixer with XENYX Mic Preamps, British EQs, 24-Bit Multi-FX Processor and USB/Audio Interface so the TLM 67 could do the same if it is cheap |

Seriously though, if they DID make an honest to God recreation of the 67 they would sell by the boatload. It always struck me as funny why there are so many 47 and C12 clones but no 67s? ![]()

second hand 67s for around 3k € which is cheaper than the 47 and C12 reissues . They couldn't sell copies for more than the going price for an original .

| Hey guys It's not the job of a moderator to delete posts because they state a different opinion from others, that's what forums are all about. An opinion, even if it is a blanket statement is just that, an opinion. This thread is about a microphone that nobody has even heard yet, so all of it is speculation. All the other post about if Neumann is good or bad are off topic. It has turned into a big complain fest, including attacks on the moderators, so I think it should be moved to the moan zone.
