I find it sad that I have to post my apologies here for our sister forum, but the lack of class displayed recently disappoints me greatly.

FWIW, the rest of PSW is NOT like this.

I skimmed through a bit of the posts over there and am now feeling a bit sick in the stomach. I know not everybody is like that. Honestly, it's very sad to me that they spend so much energy attacking others. Why? I don't know. Contrary to some posts I've just read, this forum is extrememly helpful and thank you Jules and Charles and everyone else for contributing so greatly to it!

What he posted or PM'd or emailed is not funny, although he has been quite humerous in the past.

I got this bizarre email this morning too.

Oh dear - someone airing their dirty laundry in public.

FWIW I have no intention or desire to leave the Gearslutz Forum so if this post gets "automatically brought over" to some other place then perhaps whoever is responsible for that could please read what I just wrote and don't ever send me unsolicited email again!

Gentlemen:

Kenny has removed the posts that were brought over from here. Our apologies to Jules. However, I must say, I admire Kenny's ingenuity, and I understand his reaction. Over the top? Perhaps. But I still understand it. Let's look at the facts.

Kenny posted a very critical post to Charles Dye on the thread about mixing through a 2 buss compressor. So did Malice. Those posts were removed and both Kenny and Malice were banned for their ciritcisms. Kenny's not happy about it, and I don't blame him.

Personally, I don't think Kenny's criticisms to Charles were out of line. I thought that Charles should have been given the opportunity to answer those ciritcisims, and I think had he answered them, that particular part of the discussion would have been over. But we won't ever really know that for sure. I'm just guessing.

Look. I know you guys like Charles, and I understand that you appreciate his participation. Curve let me see his disc yesterday, and it's quite impressive. That's great. But is he a china doll? He can't take a little criticism? I'm quite certain, that after surviving this business for 20 years, he's got a petty thick skin. Correct me if I'm wrong Charles, but I think the man can fend for himself.

God knows I take my lumps, and I probably bring many of them upon myself, although if you ask me, I feel I'm a bit misunderstood on the internet. But I think it's important to answer to my critics. For starters, they might not be the only ones thinking what they posted. If people are thinking it, you can be damn sure I want to address what they're thinking. It's my obligation to address such matters.

Admittedly, at some point, I no longer feel such an obligation. If a poster is making a pest of themselves, or just beating a dead horse, well it's my obligation to put an end to it. I'm certainly not going to let someone beat me up endlessly. Certainly not in my own house. In these cases, deletions and even suspensions may become necessary.

I think Jules has to deal with similar struggles here on Gearslutz. It's part of the gig. But to ban someone for expressing an opinion? Is that really necessary? It's not like Kenny was beating up Charles for page after page. He posted one criticism. It couldn't have been answered? He needed to be banned? And what of the mouse? I read his post. Very respectful. And now he too is banned?

OK, I admit, Kenny was probably wrong to pull posts from here and post them on his forum. But he did that AFTER he was banned. Not before. And yes, he was definitely wrong to send you all emails telling you same. But I can certainly understand his reaction. I kind of see his point here. The guy posted an opinion and a criticisim, that could have very easily been answered by Charles himself, and he gets banned by Jules.

Well, I can't speak any more for Kenny. He'll probably be mad at me for my backing him up so poorly. But that's OK. We'll work it out. I think he's a great moderator, and I'm certainly not going to let him get fired over this particular infraction.

So sorry for the misunderstanding.

Enjoy,

Mixerman

*** I will only accept Kenny apologies, not yours, what is there to admire?

"Over the top? Perhaps. But I still understand it."

"Let's look at the facts."

***A "twisted" reality perhaps, typically this "look" will be minus pertinent information.

"Kenny posted a very critical post to Charles Dye on the thread about mixing through a 2 buss compressor. So did Malice."

***The fact was that Kenny posted insults to C.D. that maligned his professionalism and suggested C.D's clients were receiving substandard service. So a full blown slight on his professionalism. - Malice didn't do any of the insulting but cheered Kenny on from the sidelines.

"Those posts were removed and both Kenny and Malice were banned for their criticism's. Kenny's not happy about it, and I don't blame him.

Personally, I don't think Kenny's criticisms to Charles were out of line."

** you are in denial here, you are happy for the insult to CD's professionalism to stay? You prefer to see them as "criticisms"

"I thought that Charles should have been given the opportunity to answer those criticisms,"

***Continued denial, they were insults

"and I think had he answered them, that particular part of the discussion would have been over. But we won't ever really know that for sure. I'm just guessing.

Look. I know you guys like Charles, and I understand that you appreciate his participation. Curve let me see his disc yesterday, and it's quite impressive. That's great. But is he a china doll? He can't take a little criticism? "

*** More denial! You mean insults about his work in an engineering forum!

I'm quite certain, that after surviving this business for 20 years, he's got a petty thick skin. Correct me if I'm wrong Charles, but I think the man can fend for himself.

*** You mean you would prefer an insult to lie on the web for all to see for your enjoyment

"God knows I take my lumps, and I probably bring many of them upon myself, although if you ask me, I feel I'm a bit misunderstood on the internet. But I think it's important to answer to my critics. *** it was AN INSULT!

"Is that really necessary? It's not like Kenny was beating up Charles for page after page. He posted one criticism."

*** containing several insults

"It couldn't have been answered?"

*** an insult? - No

"He needed to be banned?"

*** For insulting someone who has taken time to moderate here for free? - Yes

"And what of the mouse? I read his post. Very respectful. And now he too is banned?"

*** Actually they were / are still, both in a state of 'suspension' and not allowed to post at this time.

"OK, I admit, Kenny was probably wrong to pull posts from here and post them on his forum. But he did that AFTER he was banned. Not before. And yes, he was definitely wrong to send you all emails telling you same."

"But I can certainly understand his reaction. I kind of see his point here. "

*** That is sad.

"The guy posted an opinion and a criticism, that could have very easily been answered by Charles himself, "

*** OK now you are calling it 'an opinion AND criticism" but still remain in denial that is was a full blown insult that was posted.

"and he gets banned by Jules.

Thumbs up to Jules for taking care of this bullshit in its earliest stages....
Possibly some people can't come to grips with the fact that Charles Dye is not beyond sharing his knowledge and discussing elementary techniques.

Calling Charles Dye a amateur is called ENVY

This is Jules house, and we are all guests. That's how I've seen it since the start. He takes the time to run this cool place and deserves all the right to ban who ever he wishes, specialy for a good reason. I read the link to the other site , and yes.. the guy was insulting Charles, but out of envy. I saw the guys site and discography. A JOKE. You need to get a life and start doing some real records, then brag about your knowledge.

The fact is that when bloated egos get bruised, they sometimes pull high-school crap in retaliation.

What's funny is that someone is presumptious and arrogant enough to think that the rules don't apply to them, that they can (under the guise of being a 'pro') trample over common sensibilities like respect without a second thought.

What's hilarious is that someone could assume that running a little gifted playground area is somehow equivalent to running a full-blown BBS. Hell, I've spent lots of time in the simulator, and I now feel fully qualified to pilot the space shuttle.

That, in a nutshell, is the real point of this thread and it seems we are all in agreement that the means (hijacking posts and sending unsolicited emails) did not justify the end (settling personal scores). I fail to see what more there is to discuss.

Not at all, specialy when it's a guest moderator you are talking about. If a guest moderator like Charles, or who ever it may be is invited to do us a FAVOR of giving us their time, thoughts and techniques they should be respected and not be insulted. It does not matter if you agree with them or not, they are not common guests like me or most of us. Anyone could call me an amateur or insult me in as many languages they want, nobody would care because I'm here on my own free will. And it's up to me to take it or leave it. That is the big difference here. And Jules did the right thing in protecting a guest he had INVITED. It's as simple as that. I guess the other guy was jealous he was not invited to moderate because he sucks.

Really.
Opnions don't matter in a forum of learning? uh-kay.

Perhaps the opinion was harsh...but if you attempt to get past the "rudeness", you may learn something.

Also, I think we know by now how Jules runs this place. The banishing of Kenny (aka "the other guy") and Malice is par for the course.....a weekly event. It was certainly not an isolated incident.

Thank you Jules for doing the right thing, few people do.

Taking a hit for your guest, standing for something, believing in something and having the balls to be stand-up about it regardless of the 'who' you may offend is rare nowadays.

You may have a caused a 'ripple' with the 'hip boys' now but you showed your colors bro.

Running a busy BBS is not easy and banning people rarely makes friends.

It was obviously a no-brainer and the initial emails were from a tiny scared little man. No one respects a coward and I am sure that someone has just lost alot of respect from his percieved following.

Keep up the work dude!
