| Why? Why did he "have it coming?" Do you mean he deserves addiction or it was inevitable? If you mean it in the way that he deserves this fate, then shame on you. Truly. Yes, there are many far worse problems in the world, but why the hate? Maybe jealousy. I only wish the guy health and recovery. However, as I've already stated, I'm not going to feel bad for the guy. It's not like he has it rough by 99% of the world's standards. | |

personally i could give a rats ass what happens to EVH. i am a guitarist and was a huge fan of his when i was young kid in the 80's. but i find it difficult to have my heart bleed for an arrogant Multimillionaire doosh. btw, when i see a pic of a rockstar purposely posing with a bottle of liquor, it makes me sick. is that supposed to be cool? i feel the same way when i see a hip-hop jackass posing with his gun and a hand full of cash. same macho-cool idiocy. so yes, the hell with EVH. he reaps what he sows. i think we worship these musicians a little too much. EVH could not care less about YOU. thats for sure.

What NOT care about another amazig musician who is going through a hard time? Are you that bitter? You can't feel for him? Regardless of success and money, why does he not deserve our best thoughts.... does success make him undeserving? He contributed more to music and guitar playing than 99% of the music world and he is human with problems... where is the compassion for someone we should consider one of our own? -andrews ![]()

Maybe you should put some thought into WHY so many great musicians/artist have substance abuse problems. You sound like a religious fanatic with all that 'he deserves it' and 'he had it coming' crap. But to get back on topic, I had a strange feeling from the beginning of the whole VH 'comeback' thing: Seems like the wanted to erase (literally, as they did on the VH website) any memory of Mike Anthony and Sammy Hagar....very strange. Getting Wolfgang to play bass, very strange to say the least. Also, besides the fact that EHV looked about 20 years younger after his most recent stay in rehab, well other that I don't really see any change in his attitude. Compare this to say Stevie Ray Vaughan who came back an even stronger musician but most importantly. a much more aware PERSON after getting clean and sober. It was reflected in SRV's post-rehab songs and he pretty much reinvented himself while building on his past achievements. When trying to overcome serious addictions you need to completely change your lifestyle and attitude, it's not enough to just change your bass player and get back your old singer. I don't see that happening with VH when they try to turn back time and celebrate their back catalog exclusively. Nothing wrong with that and I'm sure that the tour was great so far. But unfortunately, it seems that the old demons came back almost immedeately. Just my 2 cents.....

| Gear Guru | Van Halen Takes a Month Off Eddie Van Halen is still on the mend, and his band is still offstage. What was originally a four-date postponement has turned into a monthlong leave of absence for Van Halen while its rock-god guitarist continues to deal with an undisclosed illness. "Seventeen concert dates on the Van Halen tour are being rescheduled so that Eddie Van Halen, who is currently under doctors' care, can continue medical tests to define a course of treatment," über-promoter Live Nation said in a statement. "The tour will resume on April 19." Undisclosed illness? ![]()
