Waves ilok issue

I broke my ilok. Yep...

Does anyone know of how to find the serial number of your broken ilok after you've sent it back to ilok.com with an RMA? I've got the Waves Renn Maxx bundle (yeah, I know... I'll save the hate for another thread) and they offer a temporary HD authorization for this sort of problem. I followed the instructions on the Waves website regarding a broken ilok. I've pasted them below:
*****************

What shall I do?

Please follow this link and start the RMA Process with Pace.
Pace will examine your defective iLok key and will send Waves approval of deficiency.
Once Waves receive that approval, we will reset the relevant product authorization in your
Waves online account and will send you a notification email.
You will then be able to authorize your new iLok key.
Some exceptions apply and may require additional information.
*********************

Then I emailed Waves tech support to see about getting a temp authorization. Along the way I got WUP'ed. They emailed me with requirements for a temp auth, one of which is providing the serial number for the broken ilok. Trouble is, once an RMA has been started, PACE takes down the serial number from my account and the ilok is in the back of a UPS truck somewhere, and it's broken. I emailed Waves back asking for clarification on how to do this once this process has been started and they basically re-sent the same email as the first time...

Am I missing something here? Is there a way to find this serial number from where I'm at here in this process? I haven't been able to find the original ilok packaging though I know it's around here somewhere. Is the serial number there? Do any of you have any experience with this?

Thanks, one and all...

Try this:
Log on to waves.com, go to my account, click authorizations, click View / Modify iLok Authorizations. Look for the ilok with your Renn Maxx bundle on it. Your ilok serial should be there. thumbsup

Thanks Drmmrboy!

Thank you very much kind sir! I knew that I must be overlooking it somewhere...

You know, after paying WUP fees that have come close to exceeding the price of the bundle, 3 emails and 2 long, confusing, and bewildering waits on an atrocious Kafka-esque "tech support" line, you would think that maybe, somehow, I would have managed enough purchasing power as a consumer to have a representative from Waves help me with this. Apparently they're too busy counting the ever growing piles of WUP money to actually read an email and respond to it or pick up a telephone... It floors me that treating good customers like criminals has become an accepted and apparently successful way of doing business. I hope that ultimately it's as short sighted as it appears to be.

Luckily, there are always kind people who are willing to take a moment and help someone else out when they are in need. My life is good because people like Drmmrboy exist. Thanks again, Drmmrboy!

Although I'm a Waves lover but have to admit WUP sux at this point. WUP = Waves Update Plan, which has nothing to do with accidents. Should they just rename the WUP to Waves Upkeep Plan instead...

BTW sleepingtiger which bundle you're having now?

I've got the Renn Maxx bundle. I'm very glad that I never went any deeper than that, and by the way, I purchased it just before WUP existed. I had no idea what I was getting into. The first time that I bought into WUP was because of a Pro Tools update or an OS update, I don't remember which. It was very expensive because I had let it lapse, about half the price of the bundle if I remember correctly.

Yep, there's no update going on here. I'm having to pay a lot of money just to keep using what I've already purchased. To put a retail price on a box and then change policies so that the listed price is just a fraction of the actual cost is simply deceptive and dishonest. In fact, I would go so far as to say that possibly, perhaps, it qualifies as theft...
My plan now is that when I get my issues resolved I will only use Waves until current projects, where they've already been instantiated, are complete. When those projects are mastered I will "audio suite" the files and remove Waves from my system. At this point I don't care how much I've invested into them. It's not worth it...

I hope that there are developers that will read posts like this and know that there are lots of legitimate users out here that will support their products if they are only treated fairly....

Best to you all.

Thanks for the tip. To be clear, it was my first WUP payment (3 years ago, 4?...) that was high. It was before they capped it and at the time I gathered that it was because I had let it lapse. Since then it's been just slightly under $70 per year if I remember correctly. That's what I paid a couple of days ago when I broke the ilok...
