Developer Standards...

I have an issue that I believe effects every single user in the modern day world of music and computers....why is it that so many developers seem to leave users out in the cold after the products have been purchased? Why is it that so many plugin developers charge hundreds if not thousands of dollars for their products bundles yet offer absolutely no type of telephone support...Major companies like Sonnox,SoundToys, DUY, and others...Also why is it that more often that not users find themselves with products that they want to sell that they paid top dollar for and are unable to sell cuz of the developers restrictions...Companies like Waves that require $150 transfer fee or Spectrasonics that forbid a transfer of ownership without their “Approval” or companies like PSP that won’t allow users to resell the products on ebay.....Why is it that I can buy a piece of hardware and if it breaks I can call to get it fixed, pay to have it fix and even resell it but not with software......

Let me add that recently I purchased the massive pack 6 promo from Digidesign...I have a Sonnox oxford dynamic package that I’ve been trying to upgrade so that I can sell it...I’ve sent over a dozen (YES. A DOZEN!) Tamils to Sonnox support and I;ve went weeks trying to resolve this with nothing but a run around with their support agent...they’ve asked for my massive pack 6 reg id numbers and I have provided them with it....and still back and forth with no end in site....Also with DUY....I try to find out why I can't sell my DUY Everpack and I get no response from their support....these companies leave us to rot with no support......why is there no developer standards in this community?> I see lots of threads bitching about Waves WUP.....and I do believe that WUP is a bit over price (better now)....Waves transfer of ownership policy is total crap....but at least you can get an agent on the phone....These companies need to step up their support efforts....

I think the general problem with second hand software is it loses its value fast because it is usually updated so quickly. Bad support sucks, but I have had amazing support from the smaller companies - especially TriTone Digital and Sonalksis.

The top dollar companies like Waves do not provide anything near adequate support and they send canned emails all the time. The Waves products I do use are ones that basically don't have an equivalent elsewhere (or at least an equivalent I can afford).
