Thread Starter | That "Avril" woman and her "Girlfriend" song...
Is this the whiny she-bitch from hell or what??? Totally nasty, dismissive, critical, uncaring, this is supposed to be appealing??? Wouldn't it be a VERY short time until she was shrieking, "Hey (hey!) You (you!) I don't like the way you looked at me this morning and the breakfast you brought me in bed was shit and the new car you bought me was the WRONG COLOR AND MAN DID I MAKE A MISTAKE WHEN I PICKED YOUR WORTHLESS ASS OUT OF THE CROWD NOW PISS OFF!" Not that that rhymes, really, but even the rhymes in that song are a stretch anyway.

On my profile we posted a video to a song called Boyfriend and we recieved angry letters from her management which we responded with a clip that I recorded in my own studio thats entitled "Its getting Complicated" an ode to Avril a Parody and before anyone says it... Yes I know its "Agle" not age, but it rhymed better... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~the funny things is that this came out way before the rubinoos came forward |

Cute satire, Drake! Yeah, the whole "Avril" phenomenon shows me just how bankrupt the current music scene is. Ah... for the good ol' bankrupt music scene of the olden days... |

| Huh? Her boring band is playing her boring song at 4:00. Maybe the clip changed since you posted. Does touring with a snotty teen idol pay well? I'd be bored outta my mind playing that garbage over and over. The Letterman interview is equally as boring an uneventful as her music. |

Hmmm, I don't think I ever saw her perform before. She's kinda cute except for having both her eyeballs ripped out, just black holes. And a great voice - sounded like that Barbie Girl in a Barbie World song from the 80's - just a little less in tune.

Yeah, I don't see what all the hype over Avril is about- she gets so much adoration but I think she's pretty lame. That performance was cheese. I mean, of course I've heard worse- some of her songs are OK I guess, but not my cup o tea.

So I guess at 4:00 she FINALLY takes her hand off her hip? Anyway, that song barely carries in the studio version. Live just proves how lame this song really is! Good for her I guess.... |

Last I heard, she's married. I find this song particularly annoying for this reason. Not that she likely wrote it....

| Props to Avril's Producers!
I never heard Avril live until just now but own her first album. I have to say that my level of respect for her pruduction team went way up while my level of respect for her talent took a dive. The amazing thing is that I used to believe that, even if she didn't have the greatest voice, she was at least capable of conveying some sort of energy in a semi-pleasing manner...either live of in the studio. But now I see that, not only does her production team have to autotune the the hell out of her vocals, they also have to capture (or magically conjur up) some sort of vibe/energy that her first album--at least to me--seems to have. That's gotta be one of the toughest things...where does it come from?

I totally agree. No energy or life to the song. The only thing that makes the song work is a fun playful energy but watching that looked like she's reading from a teleprompter. Shouldnt multi platinum selling artists at least be good performers when they arent the greatest singers? Britney couldnt sing at all but at least she was believable when you saw her perform. |

| Every time I've seen her live (on tv, that is), she looks bored out of her f@#king mind. Seriously... watch her face when she turns away from the mic in between lines. She puts on a "barely there" fake smile while she's singing the line and then turns away with an "I can't believe I'm singing this absolute dogsh#t" look on her face. WATYF |

I find it interesting that she enunciates "I want to be your girlfriend" when it would be much more natural sounding just to say "I wanna be your girlfriend". Makes me think a producer or someone insisted it be sung that way. Maybe that stuff happens all the time in studios? |
