| donsolo i can see you're upset but i think you're mis-directing it at me... because i'm not waves. i dont think you've read my posts carefully enough. if you did, you'd see that i think my friend is being scammed and harassed... and no, i'm not going to say who he is, he wouldn't appreciate that. i'm posting here simply to 1) share my bottom line opinion with other people who are being scammed and harassed by waves/banpiracy: don't settle unless you see the evidence. and 2) see if anyone has actually had a real lawsuit filed. in the case of my friend, he was being harassed for about 6 months or so, then communication stopped. but recently, he received another threat saying they were going to file a suit and that's when he asked me to look into it. *before anyone else accuses me of being waves, please take the time to read what i've written. donsolo this is the only thing you wrote that i take issue with -- i dont think what i've posted is bad information, but if there's something i got wrong please let me know. |

he's pretty freaked out about it, but what i'm getting from reading the posts on this forum, and other places, is that noone is taking them (waves) seriously and noone has had any real legal action taken against them, other than bs threats.

as for someone yelling they're not going to pay for f'ing plugins, etc. i'll add that concluding that the claimant is a ******bag is probably not unreasonable. however, it's not yet illegal to be a ******bag, and i generally try to avoid accusing people i know little about (other than their online hyperbole) of being criminals. ![]()

| Lives for gear | isn't that what the internet is for? Sweeping blanket statements about large groups of people and conclusions based on extremely limited information? Not to mention Godwin's Law. I still haven't seen any hard evidence of this scam Waves keeps perpetuating. They're making McDSP look pretty good... |

| [quote=donsolo;2628232] "I've never seen any real hard evidence of this waves campaign." The campaign is very real. We refused to pay and have been sued. They filmed as showing the spy a demo of 2000. We own a licence for a small bundle on OS10, but that day our OS10 did not work. They say it was an illegal Platinum. They do not know their stuff or they try the max: In 2000 there was no Platinum or Diamond. We sued them for filming illegaly and won in the first step. Works in Germany. They said you cannot use a demo twice. We say you can if you reinstall your OS9. They say the rest time of demo use shows in the infowindow. For Waves 3 this is not true. What is the matter with them. I will never buy Waves again. I guess we will win. I will let you know. |

They can't "blackmail" you if you've done nothing wrong. You've got three legit bundles and no pirated ones? So what are you worried about? They call and leave no message? So how do you know it's them? And if you hate them so much, STFU and let them burn their money suing you and losing ... based on what you've told us here. Are you sure you're not omitting some important details in your description of events? Waves/Ban Piracy would not want to be wasting too many resources on dead ends.

| Lives for gear | it's still odd that all of these new posters are talking about these things... Sounds like Waves is creating their own semi-smear to give credence to this whole thing. I'll avoid trash talking them today because it could get inappropriate quick. |

| I think the most important thing for all the guys out there reading about this for the first time knowing nothing about cracks is, DON'T google "Waves torrent". Its wrong. Also don't google "API bundle torrent" I'm glad this info is just between the 900,000 users of this forum because if it got around it could be a disaster for waves if regular consumers found out that every waves product was cracked. ![]() The Ban piracy guys should be thanked for keeping this info under their hats. Who knows what would happen if every one knew about this....

| Lives for gear | it's unethical to steal software, Jay- So if you want to run a legit studio, why the hell should you care if cracks are out there? You're getting paid to have these things. How would you feel if someone stole your tracks before paying you? I don't understand this, cracks are for dreamers, wannabes and college dorms, not professional studios. |

I've been around here awhile and am not new.I just don't post to just post............I post when the thread is important to me. I have a guesstimated $20,000 worth of plugs on my ilok including waves bundles and for them to do to me what they are trying to do makes me want to f@cking kill somebody.I want them to go bankrupt and I hope now that everyone will stop buying their products and/or just bootleg them.Waves deserve what they get from now on.I HOPE THEY BURN IN HELL! ![]()

Just to put this in perspective - you're cool to get personal, doubting my intelligence because I didn't automatically think Waves would make hang up calls to you, but neglect to block their caller ID? Was the number the same as their office number? I don't know about the States, but in Australia, if someone from, say, my insurance company was to ring me, I wouldn't see their main office number appear on my phone. Secondly, while touting yourself as obviously more intelligent than I, you wished death upon the innocent family of someone whose tactics you are questioning? Classy!

Having said that - I completely support Waves' right to protect it's own intellectual property - no matter how crap I consider the company (Waves inc) to be. The crapness of Waves isn't the issue. Their right to self preservation is.

| Gear nut | They did it to me Waves did all this to me and when I found out about it I raised a big stink. It ended with me, an exec from Waves in Israel and the President of Ban Piracy all having a nice three way chat. (Note: Never mess with someone that has all the equipment needed to make high quality video and would love to share "his story") I very much disagreed with their methods but two very valid facts remain. First, Waves has a right to be paid for their software. You use it, you buy it. Second, 1/2 of the facilities where I live were busted (I got this tidbit from the President of Ban Piracy) and the final result was that several of my competitors closed up shop. I'm actually sick and tired of every other person with a hacked version of Logic and the Waves Platinum Bundle calling themselves a studio. Of course they could undercut the rest of us because they were not paying for their "equipment" like the rest of us. I have no sympathy for these people, none whatsoever. ![]()
