Thread Starter | Where's the talent button?
When the talent quotient is low it sure makes it hard to make a quality recording. Sorry to state the obvious, but it's getting old.

testify, brother, preach on. also, when the talent level is low, it makes it hard for you to even WANT to make a good recording. -sm

With some of the people I've worked with the lack of talent seems to be in direct proportion to how delusional they can be about their abilities. You really start to wonder if they even can hear what they're doing, standing out in the room flailing away with this huge grin on their face, and what you're listening to is total crap...

There's always some self-absorbed wack-nut plugged into a Peavey amp cranked loud enough to make the 'snares' rattle and the 'rides' self-resonate (70 feet away). He's always got some younger dude sitting next to him idolizing his every move....funny, in an odd way.

support your local school's music program, the drum and bugle corps, symphony orchestras, etc.. It's difficult to learn and master an instrument from the web and from watching mtv. |

Hopefully she'll get into drums, woodwinds, and stringed orchestral instruments. Start 'em out early ... don't force it ... but if they show an interest, build on it. Maybe we can create a new generation of 'real' musicians.
