When my clients start telling me about these sites I know right then, not to do it.

Just like when everyone got on the Myspace bandwagon, blackplanet bandwagon. It's overwith.

I do like the way givemebeats.com is set up, I think jeffason runs that right?

You are right

ya'll are definitely right. don't get on the site. less competition for me

I do understand that any site like this has got a saturation level and PMP is probably approaching it now. I think they'd be wise to reduce their beat drops to 3 submissions each.

So, let me get this straight. They have over 800 guys paying for this service... they're making around a half million dollars a year off you guys. And, no one here is making any money off of being a member. It's too big... they got all these 800 guys sending in beats for track dumps.... how many of these 800 guys are really making it through or even being listened to... probably very few.

I'm in the wrong ****ing business.
Exactly the same thing i thought. Rockwilder has a simular site (Buy and sell Rap Beats and Hip Hop Beats, Battle Rap Beat and Hip Hop Beat producers at Rockwilder's official producer battle site RocBattle.com) already a few years runnin. They charge $ 6,95 per month for a premium membership and they have already 26086 members. Can you imagine that?

No guesswork, but this could be the reason why Rockwilder hasen't done much Major-Projects lately (or did I miss something?). I think he was one of the first who came up with this idea, so I am glad for him.
Jealousy is something for pu**y's!

So far I count something like 6 people on this forum who are on that site. And so far there is (maybe) 1 vague reference of someone making some money from it.

hmmmm.....

i dropped it after about six months or so ... AND i was a featured producer... I got alot of praise and compliments and subscriptions and bullshit offers, but no $$$cheese$$$ ... in fact some dude jacked one my beats (and other people beats too) right off the stream and made a "pmp" mixtape and was giving it away to emcees ... for me it wasnt any diffrent than any other site that you have your music on... myspace..etc... i am truly honored that they made me a featured producer without having any big major placements like most of the others, to be mentioned in the company of the top dudes was cool, but i just wasnt feeling the site enough to keep spending money on it .. $50 aint much, but its principle more than anything i never like to waste money or time doing something thats not producing real results..... there are just better ways to spend my money... and def better ways to get money.. maestros quote was def on point... i havent heard of anyone gettin checks off the site ... if someone has made any real dough/major placements from the site let me know and maybe ill hold my tongue

These places are all a cut off of soundclick's success. I do know people who make money off of soundclick. Which is funny, because you can't sell anything for more than a dollar??

Sometimes i make beat battles for the fun on rockwilder's site. I know from their forum he had a serious health problem. that's probably the main reason rockwilder has not done much lately.

that site at least have two good things:

the battle system 1 it's funny 2 you get feedback (sometimes wack but sometimes interesting)

the free mebership (the 26086 members aint all payin the $ 6,95).

There's a lot of producers outhere, a lot beginners but i heard some real hot beats, there's some dope producer there.

Do they have a section for song writers too?

or is it strictly production?

I rather sell lyrics than beats .....

anything I have that "I" think is fire. I'd rather keep for myself or the other artist im down with.

But Hell, Im alwaysdown to scribe / pen a few things.

I agree....thats the main reason I have not joined this site (PMP), among all the producers that have recommended that I join.

Yeah they have a section for writers, called writers block, I think you have to have paid up for 90 days or something to be elligible but I guess if u take a subscription for 6months or more you might be good, possibly less compettition than if you were a beatmaker. I think the point is no matter how good ur stuff is, if u aint got some sort of profile are the A&R's and artist that are worth getting to really going to listen to your stuff? If they are are then it's worth taking a chance if not well....

hahahaha ,that was a great one.
can't stop us ,won't stop us bad boy ah ah ah ah lol.

One advice for PMP members from my humble site:
Go and reach out to Sliff from spliffington management.
He will shop your beats to every major label PERSONAL for a few $ upfront and some % of the advance. Never made personal experiences with them but his deal looks way better than the PMP stuff. PLUS he HAS landed placements.
PMP looks more like "you CAN get placements through us ,it nearly never happens but it might happen VERY SOON".

Oh did not know about that ,sry for even suggesting him.
It's still better than PMP lol. He placed one track on the lil wayne pre-Lp tho.
Gossip is produced by his artist streetrunner.
But I don't know ,like I said I never made business with him.

Well I guess nothing can replace a real well connected manager ,even in the internet web 2.0 days.
But I really like the concept of PMP ,but it really doesn't work without selection.

thing is, streetrunner lives in MIA, and gives wayne cd's himself. spliff didn't place that.

......Hmm seems like an awful lot of conjecture here. I don't think anyone can predict that placing ur beats on PMP or anywhere else for that matter will or will not get you plaements, it depends on a number of factors I suspect, how good your stuff is, what's the competition, who's looking and how hard they are looking and of course.....unfortunately but probably your profile, experience and track record. However my feeling is if U have a track record, why would you bother with something like PMP.

I asked around and it appears to me that everybody who I know on the site got on there for free and hasn't made any cheese yet. It seems like a good idea in theory but like a lot of stuff, the reality is a different story. I kinda get the vibe that cold shopping beats to people you don't know and who don't know you rarely works. It's probably worked a few times here and there, but compared to the thousands of catz running around with beat cd's and on these sites etc, it's probably as hard as finding a needle in a haystack to get that placement out of the blue(so to speak). And not just the people with wack beats. I'm sure everbody knows a gang of people with sick beats that can't seem to get on in this way. Maybe some of these sites along with personal contacts and general hustle, might get you closer to getting placements but it seems unlikely. At the moment producers, beatmakers, musicians, writers, artists, studios, engineers are all trying to figure out how to make cheese consistently in what is right now an ever changing landscape in the music game. There's less opportunities for everybody to make money and everybody seems to be trying to figure out ways of getting paper. Even the catz who set up PMP :-).
