tone deaf singers...

oh boy...

i have a production client that uses a tone deaf singer for leads and hooks.

how do you convince a client to get a coach or use a better singer?

is there a nice way to tell them i can't polish a turd?

yes but it takes a lot of energy to do that ... so the short way might be better. Short and polite.

no matter how many times he hears it... he just won't replace this singer... he must be banging her.

would i be wrong to have a real singer do the parts and let him hear the difference?

Lightbulb tone deaf singers...

I made good experience in Rcording "tone-deaf" singers live in the control-room.
Sometimes headphones and/or latency make usually good singers loose pich.

It ain't always the singer!

Think about this....

trust me when i say shes tone deaf because shes tone deaf on stage, shes tone deaf in the booth, shes tone deaf in the control room, shes tone deaf in the lounge, shes tone deaf with and without headphones...

listening and troubleshooting is a large part of my job...

in this case it is the singer!

and to top it off...her voice hits frequencies that adds a static-like effect to the mix.

too bad autotune can't keep up with her vibrato. its gonna take alot of eq to smooth this one...

you know about that little whit spec on top of chicken shit...

its still chicken shit
