I'm usually a healthy person. Eat good, lots of exercise, don't drink much, ect. ect. But ever since before christmas(when I was NOT getting much rest), I've had this flu that just keeps coming back. And my lungs(and ears!! ) are taking a beating. I just can't shake this thing. All I hear from people is it's a bad year fro weird virus's/flus. Some have been sic for 3 months! But usually it lingers on at least six weeks. I'm really getting pissed with this sick shit. I not used to feeling so weak and run down. I've been getting lots of rest since I've had this but man, nothing seems to help. Anyone else out there going through this crazy shit?!

nope. I drink pretty regularly and I get sick FAR less then anyone I know. Only thing I've ever been able to link it to is that fact that I drink shit loads of water every day, just out of habit. other than that... eat like shit, at least a couple of drinks just about every day, never get sick.

check your environment. One year, I had "sinusitis" for 5 months. Starting in November. Cleared up in April as soon as the heat stopped running. Turned out here was a hole in the exchanger and soot and smoke and carbon monoxide and lord only knows what else was getting into the vents. I was breathing that crap all winter and wondering what "disease" I had. maybe something similar in your home/workplace is causing your problems if not furnace fumes, maybe chemicals or molds |

if you have already seen a doctor and got antibiotics (sounds like you have an ear infection which can be dangerous as can travel to your brain eg, meningitis) my six tips are:- 1) lemon juice 2) ginger and garlic 3) vitamin b complex 4) fish oil or cod liver oil 5) plenty of sunshine and fresh air 6) enjoy yourself take your mind off it hope you get better soon....... ps. gotta eat with the vit supps so they dont make you queasy |

We have a doctor come to the studio a month before winter and give everyone a flu shot each year. We're average aged 30's, not pensioners yet, but people down is money lost and we haven't had a flu since we satrted doing it.

If you go to a doctor, he is not going to stick a lit candle in your ear. the candles are quackery of the first order. the 'wax' they "get" is from the candle itself. | |

Find a health food store close by and see if you can find this stuff. www.gtskombucha.com It works wonders. And/or snag some Oil of Oregano drops and put a couple under your tongue each hour.

I never get sick because I drink 1.5L of water every day, without counting other drinks (milk, orange juice, cola etc)

There was a really evil flu here in Australia last year, I and quite a few friends suffered pneumonia like symptoms as result (2 were hospitalised) of this nasty bug, was a rotten cough you just could'nt shake even after a month and 2 courses of antibiotics. I think one of my friends was diagnosed in hospital as having a mycoplasma pneumonia infection which can persist for weeks or even months. Was the same here you think your getting better then it flogs you again and again oh yeah and probably again too. Yer gonna need some strong antibiotics. Check this link http://www.healthline.com/adamconten...asma-pneumonia

| http://www.freepatentsonline.com/5470587.html (scroll down to end of page) the drops stimilate the mucous in the ET to swell and close the gap in the ET which is abnormally open so hearing then comes back to normal....by altering the ph balance in that area pretty scientific, can burn but looks like it would be worth it if not, apparently they can insert a tube or something..... but I think Id try the drops first good luck..... |

Man Go see a doctor. I come from a (good not money oriented piss takes) doctors family and i think with certain cetrainty, colds and flu's shouldnt last 3 months. If you re a smoker it could be partly due to that, but even so go see a doctor. As for ear infections, they are simple most times -they vary from internal and external otitis- unless you have excrutiating pain that wouldnt let you stand up / balance / or chew and even bear BEING- to say the least) and to cut short you probably dont have any ear infection, the pain wouldnt ve driven you mad. Even so, do not fear - a doctor puts a tiny water jet in your ear which cleans it in a simple external otitis / middle ear infection. Its almost pleasant, feels cool afterwards kinda lucid.. But anyway it doesntt matter since your ear thing is probably a side effect of the flu / congestion. ginger and garlic and sleep are all good but every time they re mentioned they re meant as partly PREVENTIVE diet NOT cure. The garlic thing is a bit hyped, Garlic is consumed like water where i come from trust me its good and all, very good but it doesnt cure anything as such, its preventive and good for you thats all. Ginger disolves some mucus and thats helpful to unblock you a tad but again, if you ve been ill for that long PLEASE GO SEE A PROPER DOCTOR. They dont bite. And sparing a few minutes can actually save you a lot more lost work hours, and all the hassle of, well, having the flu. Get well. x a |

By the way, i was repying to the first poster - i have no idea what PET is, although rhinitis means 'nose infection' so it isnt directly linked to ears as such. In eiher way, the internet is ok for things but for health you need people who ve studied it, done it, and know it. GO SEE A SPECIALIST for heavens sake. |

Whooping cough is making a comeback. My doctor suspects I had it recently. Terrible cough that lasted about 6 weeks. I think I broke a rib coughing.
