Exclamation Got Snow?!!!!!!!!

Holy crap,

I live in Arvada, CO, which is a suburb northwest of Denver. I'm thinking I've got about 16" so far. It's supposed to continue on thru the night. The forecast is saying about 24".

My back hurts from shoveling. I guess it's time to buy a snow blower.

I'll post pics soon.

Nope. None. None snow. It's be extremely warm for Maryland this year. I'm talking 70's and short sleeved shirts.

Instead of sugarplums, I have visions of Al Gore dancing in my head.

Here we go. I left a monument to my labor. Thing is, it's dumped over 4 more inches since these pics.

I live up in the mountains of So. Cal and we got a few inches a couple of days ago, but it's been SO cold that it's still on the ground. It's been in the teens at night and just over freezing during the day. It's supposed to warm up by the end of the week.

Cheers,

Cool photos Jalabodu, I'm glad I don't have to do that here in Sacramento. I'm going to sleep in the backyard tonight to test out my REI goose down sleeping bag, should be fun. It will be around 32 degrees give or take...

My heart goes out to you and your back. Um you live in Colorado. Much like living in Northern Utah. You buy a 4wd car, a good snow shovel, and a HUGE Snow blower. Not in that order.

Sorry to gloat but I am glad we didn't get pounded by this storm like you guys did. Went skiing today instead of working. (Um yeah about that deadline. Sorry I had a powder sickness!) Just enough snow last weekend to make everything perfect.

Stay warm and dry and watch that back.

I have been here 7 years. I have lived in California and I really love it here. I gotta tell you, this area is normally the banana belt of Colorado. Usually if it snows it melts the next day so no use for a snow blower (ecxept today of course). Oh well....almost 2 feet and counting. I should get some clean up work done on a project that I am working on....but I smell a powder day!

A-Basin, Yeah!!!!!! My brother lives in the Springs, he's been a regular there for many years & has taken me a few times. In fact my first time on skis on a real mountain was there, almost 20 years ago. One of my favorite mountains fo sho.

STILL SNOWING!!!!!

It's supposed to stop by about noon today. The airport is CLOSED. They say the soonest there might be any flights would be by NOON on FRIDAY.

Hopefully no one has any family stranded here.

Unfrickinbelievable!

I've got over 30" so far, could be closer to 36". I'll take some more pics.

The really sucky thing is that the mountains didn't get hit very hard. 8" at Breckenridge, 6" at Vail, 12" at Keystone and 3 FEET AT MY HOUSE.

Watch out. The Plains are next. Kansas City residents better go to the grocery and liquor stores now.

Hooray it's over! I guess this can be moved to The Good News Channel.

All told 29 inches by morning. It stopped at noon. I started shoveling at 10:30, finished at 3:30. That's with the help of a neighbor's snow blower.

Here's some pix.

I'm in a hotel in NH as I type.

On a snowboarding holiday.

I was here last year and the snow was three feet deep outside the hotel.

It's warmer than Ireland here in the daytime (though less damp).

Average of about 8% of slopes open on the resorts. Most of it icey.

Luck of the Irish ?

Me bollix.

Then again, we see snow on the ground at this time of year as some sort of festive thing. You guys are obviously looking at it a bit differently.

Anyway. The climate is changing. Not gonna open that can of worms in this thread.

Nathan

Not even that much snow here in Auto-wah yet!

I'm sure you already have past experience, but redundant advice never hurt: if you can safely reduce the amount of snow on your roof, you might end up saving yourself thousands of dollars. Even if you hire a specialist to do it so that you don't put your own body at risk, it could be well worth it.

Some thing here in Minnesota on the other side of the planet. And it has been the same story for many years now.

It is in the 40's today (suppose to be in the 20's). Most days in December above average on record. First 6 months of this year as well.

OMFG! Here we go again. I barely escaped the mountains. I went snowboarding today and got trapped on the other side of Eisenhower tunnel. Had to take the long road home. It took 6 hours to get home from the slopes from where it normally takes an hour and a half. A lot of folks are still stranded on the passes. What a friggin' mess. I'll post some more pics soon, so you masochists can get your fill.

Yeah, I had a condo at the base of Keystone for a few years late 90's , I remember plenty of trecks back to Boulder, Georgetown going by painfully slowly. Thinking, man, when are they going to build that monorail.
