SRS Klauth, Thanks for the insight. That is very informative. I exclusively use Paiste Signature series cymbals too. They just have this clarity and sparkle that others do not. That GML snare sounds sweet I bet. I have about 12 snares right now. I tend to use three of them most of the time. Those three are my Pearl Free-Floater, 3-1/2 x 14 brass, my Ludwig Black Beauty 5x14 and my custom OC Drum and percussion 10-ply Maple vented shell 6 1/2 x14 on a Pearl Free Floater frame with a super thick die-cast marching top rim.
I am a bit torn between getting the P1 or the Purple Biz MK for the final 2 slots in that 2nd lunchbox... Your thoughts have helped me some. Thanks. Brent

Klauth Yeah I too, have my distressors glued to my kik, snare and room channels. but, I liked the toms better with my 1176-2 though. just gave it more of an organic feel(if that translates?)
the BIZ are really, FULL & ROUND" (on the toms & the underside of the snare) also, with an sm-7 on the underside of snr, this particular mic REALLY sounded more organic than the 414-uls & sm 57, I was using.
Then, API & Empirical labs, EQ's and let's not leave out the Transient designer(thank ya' "JESUS"...
I spent several days comparing the BIZ, 512, P-1 & GR on all positions and came to the grand conclusion that, the P-1 was the one with the, "right" amount of warmth of the drums and had a killer translation of all my paiste signature brass(which is pretty important... right?) the GR was kinda, "cloudy" in the mids and the, 512's were kinda, zingy-hyped and abit thin. the BIZ worked on the room just right once I cranked the input. but, it just didn't have the, "meat" on the OH's... the the P-1's had.
My fave snare as of late is a, GML bell brass 3-1/4" piccalo with a yellow falam head. body AND cut(think it weighs in at about 18 lbs!)I think this is my utopian setup -klauth.
